Maybe Doc Hamidon is Praetoria's version of LR...which then would make sense for a split empire type scenario. Perhaps Tyrant made a deal with the Hami is some way - all humans can remain in cities, guarded by the sonic barriers, while Hami and the DE take the wastes, jungles, and what have you for their own...who knows.

I'm just speculating beyond the current scope of Praetoria anyway.

Eden, you might say.

The question is whether or not it is a paradise that is going to turn you into a DE or not.
Ah, but that's the thing. Is there any evidence that the place is overrun with Hamidon creatures, or are you just chompin' down on the TPN news feeds?

Mmmm....tasty news feeds...

But it's one of those interesting questions, like "Are you Immortal?" Who is going to test it (since our characters can't pass the sonic barrier)?

However, since some factions claim to be smuggling and trading stuff outside of Nova Praetoria, it would seem that they would know whether DE are prevalent or not. There are at least some out there per at least one mission that refers to a plot to unleash some on the city.

Indeed. They also appear prominently in the reworked Peregrine arcs that deal with Praetoria, so the place might not be overrun per se, but they most definitely present a danger not unlike the DE of Primal Earth.

While I was doing a little RP with March Hare with Z we were doing some city watching from the Bluff and we were both surprised when a giant tentacle (We're talking building sized) lashed up and whacked the sonic fence before retreating back into the forest. So yeah, that's pretty good evidence!

That's...pretty awesome. Do yalls know if this is a random event or if this happens on a timer? What're the coordinates this was at?

I was caught up in RP on education and the state of Praetoria, however we were sitting in the little gazebo on Tiberian Bluff facing Imperial City. I heard the roar, rotated my camera in time to see that. It was at night time in game, and sever time must have been about.... close to midnight.

For RP reasons, none of these questions need be answered right away, as the entire mystery of Praetoria is part of it's draw. The general public would not know exactly what is going on worldwide, especially now that Cole has such control over everything. As was said, if Cole has control of news in and out, it would be few that would have the entire picture at this point of what is happening around the world.
This makes for easy, more specialized rp actually, as long as you imply or point to the fact that it is the character's personal thoughts on this, or what they have learned, or heard via "rumors".
This isn't done accidently. Taking in what you learned so far from the information put out, what your character would actually know, and what your character would actually think, you can base who your character is on small facts, which actually is how we become who we are in real life. Not everything I "knew" when I was growing up turned out to be fact. The rest would be rumors, or far worse, "facts" that Cole himself has put out, about himself, and about the "new world".
Any of it turns out to not be true, then your story line really starts.

Happy RPing!

OH...Cole is completely right! Unless we are underground. *nod...wink...secret handshake....chocolate shake*

Wow! That's awesome! So if we're patient and look towards the rainforest, we can see the Devouring Earth kaiju that the sonic barriers are protecting us from. I'll have to keep an eye out for that!

But getting back to the paranoia on parade, it just might be possible that Cole's government stages the monster tentacles too. But now I'm guessing I'm getting too Nemesis in my metaparanoia nested within paranoia.

Everybody's said a ton about Praetorian history and society here already, so I almost feel silly for bringing this little tidbit up. But I found it interesting, so here you go!

In one mission for the final Warden contact in Nova Praetoria, there's a bit of optional dialogue in an NPC conversation with a homeless former Destroyer in the Underground where he mentions America. So obviously there are some who recall a time before Cole's empire with some fondness. Though I can easily imagine "America" taking on a status similar to that of Camelot within a generation or two.
