What Archtype Will Best Fit....

I'm looking for an Archtype I can solo with but it have ranged attacks. Also stumped on what power sets. Any advice would help.

Corr with secondaries such as /Dark, /Storm, /Rad, /traps are all very good solo'ers and of course all of the Corr primaries are ranged.

Fire/Dark solo's incredibly well.

I'll second Neogumbercules' recommendation of a Fire/Dark corruptor. Good damage, good survivability, and, for those times you don't feel like soloing, very good on a team.

Since the Vigilance changes, some defenders might be worth considering too. Dark/ Rad/ or Traps/Sonic can put out good single target damage thanks to sonic's stacking -res as well as, again, having excellent suvivability. The lack of AoE might be a downside, but Trap/Sonic in particular can solo pretty much anything in the game, (including GMs).

Also, if you've unlocked them, try a VEAT. A Soldier of Arachnos with a Huntsman or Crab build has plenty of ranged (often AoE) attacks, and the defenses to survive. Widow -> Fortunata is much the same (with some nice control powers too).

Of course, you can still go for a blaster. While Fire/Fire can be pretty squishy, there are plenty of more suvivable combinations which will solo pretty well. Ice/ Elec/ and Sonic/ are good primaries to consider, while /Mental or /Ice can provide some good defensive abilities too.

Blaster elec has Tesla Cage which is quite handy. I have elec paired with fire on my blaster and it's a nice little power. In fact the mini-stuns are handy from Short Circuit. I was playing with a 'sapper' build Blaster and that was highly survivable. You don't get hit much if they don't have endurance. No idea about the cost though.

And much as I hate to suggest anything with KB; energy? But please, please for every melee char out there; learn to use the KB effectively in a team.

Absolutely cannot disagree with the control /dark gives you though. I have a fire/dark corr and he is a little monster.

I'll throw out a */energy dom might work for range since it has what 2 melee attacks compared to the rest assault sets. Maybe mind/energy nice contol and range dmg that has KB in it to keep baddies away.

Onibi---Fire/Fire/fire Blaster

I'm ready to burn it all.

Dominator with Ice Assault would be another one to consider, since they get an excellent single target ranged chain, plus frost breath and ice sword circle for AOE damage output. The swords look to me OK, but skippable.

Dominators are likely a solid choice, as they can lock down small groups with great ease and then blast away at range or run up close to safely melee. Something like a Mind/Energy dominator should be a breeze, but the specific powersets are fairly interchangeable depending on character concept/preference.

Many corruptors can solo at a fair clip with their ranged blasts supported by heavy debuffing, but the actual effectiveness will vary wildly depending on your chosen combo.

My favorite option for a safe, reliable, effective soloer using ranged attacks would be a Fortunata. You will need to have a level 20 villain archetype in order to unlock them, if you don't already, but they combine significant self-defenses and control powers with solid ranged damage and team-buffs.

Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

Corruptors, Blasters and Dominators are all very soloable. Blasters tend to be the most fragile of the three, while Corruptors are the weakest offensively. Corruptors also take a lot more planning and strategy, if you're playing a soloable Corruptor, you want one with debuffs like Rad or Kin. So you don't just charge in blasting, first you lay down your debuffs so the foes will be weak enough to take on.

The Dominator is sort of similar. You want to lock down your foes before you start shooting them. But you can pick off the first few foes from a distance before you alert the rest of them by locking them down.
