Im not 100% sure but I think you need to make the full switch. Going to do some more testing today to be sure.

Firebug - Should be showing after one.
Hero Slayer - Might need to defeat 1-2 before progress bar shows.
Impounder - Might need to defeat 10-15 vehicles before progress bar shows.
Safecracker - Should be showing after one.
Also you might not get a progress bar to show, but you should get the badge if you get the requirements.

As I recall the progress bars for some of those were kind of flaky and imprecise back when I was just trying the get them done on my Villains. It's very possible they'll be just as flaky in the post-GR game.

Update:
I never did get a progress bar for any of them, but the one for defeating vehicles just awarded.
Here's to hoping the others work the same way.
I saw no progress bars as a vig, once I went full vil I saw all the progress bars ( well save for the one that doesn't have a bar)
