Open World Gameplay... is it worth it?

My nephew plays[not to be mentioned] , he wanted me to try it . The game play was different and not to my liking . The graphics on [not to be mentioned] was quite good, and they did have intresting [redacted]. I think that experimintation is nice but traditional zones are useful to establish a game overall genre.Though I would like an open Moon Zone.

Open World can be worth it, as can a very delineated world. The creator just needs to capitalize on the pros and minimize the cons of each, depending on what they are creating.

I love open worlds. I enjoy the freedom of exploring the world and if developers provide free style missions that you stumble upon instead of being guided to them then even better.
However some people need to be led from Point A to Point B. Running on rails gameplay. I believe it's best to support both styles of players, the goal oriented and the explorer.
