Just how gimp are merc?
also I dont know if this is intended but my mercs keep running up to mobs and trying to fist them...even if the mob's webbed or something. So they get hit alot. I think the mercs would be better if they just stood and shot inside of running into aoes
They used to just stand and shoot, but the AI got broken somehow. -_-

AI got "fixed" for melee pets, and broken for everthing else.
Though some melee MMs are unhappy with the change as well.

just finshing group with some friends and my mercs shot 5 damage rubber bullets at one guy while demon summoning blew stuff up left and right with massive nukes. God dammit mercs, why are you so lame
also the redraw animation really sucks.... like really
Based on your post you only said you had soloed ebs. I have no idea if mercs can solo avs or not. Nobody has posted any exploits, so I was just going off of my own limited expericence.

It's the secondary, not the primary. All MMs are comparable against single targets, with the MM being a tankermind so their defensive differences are ignored. Ranged MMs are better as the pets don't get hit by AoEs as much. With AH and other damage procs, the Mercs did quite solid damage against the AVs, the question was staying alive, not lowering their health bars.

For most pets in general, I'd replace the BM - Acc with another Acc/Dam or Acc/Dam/End depending on Endurance use. You cap damage, and 70% or so Acc is good enough in most cases. For Mercs, it's absolutely good enough, as all of their -Def basically means that too much Accuracy just ends up as wasted enhancement, while more damage enhancing always helps.
I like Merc but a more valid question is should the sets be balanced around having Procs/Sets?
I honestly think Merc's damage is too low without the procs. I mean I could afford getting those procs when they were pretty cheap but now good luck on getting AH proc. Ugh. |
Seeing as how were posting builds heres mine. I play differently from most MM's. I like the personal attacks M30 (and Caltrops) is a staple of mine. I mostly do farming on this toon to bankroll my other toons so its not like I'm soloing the ITF or anything. Caltrops has 4 more damage procks in it Mids just doesn't show them any more because of the I17 nerf. I just wish they had buffed the crouptor version instead of nerfing it.
Good news is that with I18 I can put Armageddon in tripmine at last.

Well I'm lv 26 and got commando now, but I can safely say without Acheills my damage is pretty lame up to this point. I'm also pretty garbage in teams because of the dot attacks, I rarely can fully unload a dot before the mob is killed by other players (lol aoe), so I'm not really contributing as much I think.
I still stick with my MM though because the sound effects are awesome. Its sounds like a warzone when ever I fight.
