LJ Redesign Contest!

I now have 2 designs and I know I saw some costume parts in that GR vid that I'd like to incorporate which will have to wait til the 17th.... Will post later tonight.... Have a kids b-day to attend....

D'oh!...I just read the allowing spandex thing AFTER I did these. Oh well, I still feel these are worth posting.

I was partial to black and I still wanted to use yellow, orange, or red. I settled on black with orange (since you seemed pretty adamant about not yellow or red together), but I personally think red may still be best with black. There are a lot of spikes and chains - my take on grittier, but may come off not classy enough for ya LJ. The chains, straps, and the armored bits were also an attempt to bring that amazon warrior aspect across. The flame patterns for obvious reasons of tying her elemental use of fire into the design.

I think I will go work up a latex one soon too.

JK, that combo of the leather pants with the fire pattern and those boots is just awesome. I'm totally stealing that some day for a character.

Okay here is my first entry. I wanted to stay away from reds and yellows. I went a bit darker for skin tone but that is easily changed. I imagined Amazonian as in Wonder Woman (though she isn't shown as darker skin)....


edit - Unfortunately I don't have a toon with those exact powersets that has the unlocked costume parts I'd like to use. Amd I'm not even going to tell you that PowerStream had to have a sex change in order to make these entries possible.... oops I guess I did tell you...

But being that Judgement is Fire/Invuln, I would leave the fire as original and probably use the invuln settings that have almost no affect. But that's me...

Okay and here is my second. I went with more of a burnt orange color in order to avoid the red that I really wanted. :-)



Again I'd probably go with Vanguard boots here but without the wings. I did lighten the skin tone to be more in line with what LJ is currently.

This is it until I can see what GR is going to offer us....

I tried to avoid using black, other than the hair. The jacket, belt and skirt are brown (if that's not clear in the pic). Darkened your old base colors a bit...the red became a deep maroon and the yellow became a copper/gold color. Added orange to brighten the costume.

Here's my spandex version. Well I think I do like red better then orange, but I can see it argued that this may be too close to your current one...

The only difference between the two are the gloves. I could see Judgement using bare hands because she-hulk amazons don't worry about breaking nails right? lol However, a little armor references her warrior side too.

The scales just seem to make sense obviously with a lot of us trying them out. I kept messing with the fist (outlined one) or the lit torch, but kept coming back to the scales too.

Take Two! Just a little color switch since there were a lot of similar shades of blue being thrown around and LJ told me that she didn't much care for it.

Regarding all the blue and the use of scales for that matter, I sent links to my first effort from dA and found out about the thread then. I didn't even know there was a thread. Weird that so many people went the blue route.

I went with kind of a magenta to suggest a warmer color but still stay on a dark palette. I may try to play around with some flames because I'm digging some of the other takes. I still like spandex superheroes though and probably won't add much in the way of bulky accessories.

Hi LJ, here's my submission for your re-design. I've tried to keep it fairly simple, a little sexy with the bare shoulders, a bit physical with the sturdy belt and wristbands etc, a touch amazonian with her head gear, and lastly, she wears the chains of judgement

Did a nice grey and orange, a color combo I have used on my own as well. Black accents in belt and boots. Fire aura on hands that compliments well with a nice red/orange color alteration on powers (action shot)

Light armor, battle ready, and those cool eye covers you had before were a very nice touch, thought they should be revisted. Worth saving those, they make the look (of the character) in my opinion. No need to stray so far away from the original when it was good to begin with.
Would hate for your years of hard work and reputation as a household name to be hindered by an outfit overhaul where no one recognizes you anymore!

(Note: I didnt even go through the tread yet until after I posted! I see there another by someone rather similiar, but very different when you look at the little nuances of it. Gloves, belt, boots, chest, mask, color... but still rather similiar. Wasnt aware! Great minds think alike?)

Saw nothing in the rules against Judegment being a catgirl!
(altho the tail and ears are easy to remove )

Take 3! Same color scheme this time and I tried to do something with flame patterns since I was digging the way some of the other entries looked.





The bare arms and gloves were an effort to make this effort a little more "tanker chick" in its design. I really do wish we could have patterns AND skin. I tried the hair with a little bit of gray to it since LJ kind of seemed to like the long flowing gray locks.

Henri, as always I really like your costume re-design, but I'm not digging the blue hair. (Not that you asked for my input but you always seem open to it)

Oh I also meant to say - I like that top because from the back it makes the shoulders appear wider which gives you the illusion of a stronger individual. It's actually the same top I used on the toon which I used for my body proportions and my toon seems "bigger" than my entries because of this I think.

Size comparison:

Well most of the tops from GR I was looking at are bulky or look like power armor which you said you didn't want (the probable exception being the one Powerstream is using) and seeing as you really loved the bridal one Vex picked out I went for something similar in that it has good coverage while still showing some skin and also has some partially see through mesh (hex pattern though) and cool shape too it except it's more sharp and not wedding/valentine themed.
The hair is long but put up in a "feisty" double braid so it doesn't get in the way when smashing stuff.
The visor is brand new from the GR set but the mask pattern underneath has a little bit of the classic LJ shape to it and I thought they fit well together.
For the gloves I chose the new organic ones they look like they mean business and you wouldn't want to get hit by somebody wearing them plus the silver spines are another one of those touches that hint at the old costume (which had the triple spikes) only more modern looking.
The belt is one that I almost never use because it doesn't ever look like it's holding anything up it just floats without touching in the front or back but here at last
it looks like it could actually be connecting the fabric in front to the fabric in back and it touches both pieces top and bottom perfectly. The seam follows the mesh all the way around with no gaps and the stripe of the bottoms looks like they tapers right up into the triangle shaped peak of the top on both the front and back making the belt look like it was made custom just for this outfit.
The bottom fits the theme dark and sexy yet stylish, a little showy but still leaving much to the imagination and it matches well with the top.
Went with the new Praetorian style boots as they look reinforced and perfectly suited for Foot Stomping villains of all kinds and not just boots you wear for show. They're large on an 8ft. frame but not over-sized or mechanical looking.

Black and white and silver plus a hint of cool blue is what came to mind when I though a bit darker yet sexier take on Judgment.

All in all I think it's a totally new version of LJ (a reboot if you will) but if you look closely a lot of the elements suggest a tie in with her original suit (eyes covered, mask pattern, forearm spikes etc) so it has that hint of familiarity to it.
