Old King Cole?

I'm wondering why we've not heard this in connection with GR

Old King Cole was a merry old soul
And a merry old soul was he;
He called for his pipe, and he called for his bowl
And he called for his fiddlers three.
Every fiddler he had a fiddle,
And a very fine fiddle had he;
Oh there's none so rare, as can compare
With King Cole and his fiddlers three.

Maybe I should offer them some?

I was actually looking for something else and this surfaced from the recesses of that cavernous space known as "my brain" - and it just struck me that a bastardised version would be quite useful rallying cry for La Resistance

Resistance Version:

Emperor Cole was a Tyrant of Olde
And a Tyrant of Olde was he
He crushed out our hearts, and he enslaved our souls
And he unleashed his Lieutenants three
Every Lieutenant he had an army
And a very large army had he;
And so we prepare, and thus we dare
'Gainst that Cole and his Lieutentants three.

Loyalist Version:

Emperor Cole was a warrior bold
And a heart of pure gold has he
We pledge all our lives, all our bodies and souls
To his rule and his Lieutenants three
Every Lieutenant he has a duty
A duty he takes seriously;
So do not despair, you are in the best care
Emperor Cole and his Lieutenants three.

(Yes, I know Cole has more than three Lts, but certain artistic license must be taken... heh.. that and I'm too lazy to do research)

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

Yeah really getting into Maynard's groove myself... that high note he hits goes through you like a sonic blaster with Assassins Strike

well, as a neil gaimen fan, i have seen areas where authors have expanded simple nursery rhymes into some fairly engaging stories, so while he has more than 3 trusted lieutenants, i wouldnt be shocked if some reference was gone for. a lot of nursery rhymes are about significantly gloomy events anyhow.

Gaiman did a really good reinterpretation of the Harlequin legend which I really enjoyed

The rhyme in question is often thought to refer to Coel Henn (I believe that's how it's rendered; going by memory here), a ruler in what is now Brittany in the 5th century. He occasionally shows up in stories about King Arthur.

Also, Nat King Cole is awesome.
