The American Legion is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our 3rd annual Patriot Day Event. Details below.

Place: Galaxy City Freedom Court

Date/Time: September 11, 2010 8PM - 11PM EST

Activities

Patriot March

All heroes who wish to participate in a Patriot March to the event are encouraged to gather at Atlas Park plaza at 7:45 PM EST. We will march to the Yellow Line and converge on Galaxy City Freedom Court. Once assembled we will observe a moment of silence.

Costume Contests

There will be three costume contests held throughout the night. Each contest will have a separate category. The categories are:

Best Patriotic
Judging will be based on the patriot flavor of the costume. Contestants do not have to be American themed patriots; just patriots.

Civil Servant with Biography
Civil Servant costumes; i.e.; police, fire, council member; with a biography is required to be considered for this contest.

Best Male and Female
This contest will select two winners; one male and one female; for the best overall costume. This is not a couples contest; but a best overall contest with one winner being a male hero and one a female. The winners of this contest will receive as a prize an original piece of art from mmarcz.

Team Auction
A team consisting of American Legion SG members will be auctioned off. The winning bidder and American Legion will confer on what activity the team will perform on a mutually acceptable time and date. This may include completing task forces, mission arcs, etc.

Trivia
Trivia will be asked throughout the evening. The trivia categories will include American history, Comics, and City of Heroes/Villains game trivia.

AE Challenge
An AE mission challenge will be authored by an American Legion member. This mission will hold a clue. All heroes who successfully complete this mission and contact the Legion with the correct clue will earn an influence prize.

AE Writer's Contest
For a prize of one billion influence, the American Legion is challenging heroes to write an AE story arc that is patriotic in nature. We want you to be creative but remember to stay in the Patriotic theme. To be considered for this prize your story arc must be no longer than three missions and you must submit your Arc ID number by replying with the number on this thread no later than September 6, 2010 at 10 PM EST. The Legion SG will run the arcs and select the winner who will be announced at the September 11, 2010 event in Galaxy City. If you have any questions regarding this contest or any other details of the event please contact @Beans or @Alamo ingame.

The Cape Radio
We have requested The Cape to DJ our event but of course their attendance is pending DJ availability. Hopefully they will be able to once again provide us with some great entertainment during the event.

A more accurate timeline and prize amounts per each contest will be posted on this thread prior to the event. I hope to see you all out there!

I've got a submission for the AE writing contest. Earth For Humans, Arc #4827. It's all about loyalty to Earth in the face of an encroaching alien threat, and not allowing our way of life to be destroyed by external agencies. Very patriotic.

Jerk 4 Life

My Arcs: #4827: Earth For Humans. #6391: Young Love.

I will definitely be there for this, though whether I should bring my PPD cop "Legwork" or my Golden Era main Rose Maiden is another question.

Why not bring both? The Cop sounds like a good choice for the civil servant CC; so long as you have a bio to go with the character.

Also don't forget about the AE writing contest...thats worth a billion influence prize.

D'oh. Totally forgot this, between finding out this morning that my brother was doing his birthday dinner today, and then Michigan beating Notre Dame (M GO BLUE!) ... *facepalm*

My thanks to all those in the Virtue community that came out and helped make the event tonight a success. We gave out about six billion influence; a couple pieces of artwork; and had a pretty good time while at the same time giving remembrance to our brave patriots. The march at the beginning; for those of you who participated; was wonderful. Thank you all.
