There is also an in-game tutorial on the invention system and crafting from a contact at the Steel Canyon or Cap au Diable Universities.
After returning to the game, this seems to be the one area I need the most help in. I am just thick sometimes, but a lot of it doesn't make sense.

Is an invented training enhancement better then a standard single origin one? |
I have a lot of items that it says I have the influence and the items for, but the only option is "buy" and I can't even do that. |
I also have a list of salvage I can convert in to "brainstorming" or some such, whats that about? |
I also have several yellow and orange salvage I'm told is worth something, but what do I do with them? |
Same with Merit awards, they're listed under salvage, what can I do with them? |
I also have a lot of AE tickets. ![]() |
I appreciate any help you guys can toss my way. ![]() |

Ok I think I am getting a grip on this now. Let me ask you guys this (didn't see it in the Wiki): When you have a recipe, and it shows the items you need/have, does it take in to consideration the stuff in your vault or just the stuff on your person?
On last question, and I probably missed it on the Wiki: The toon I am starting my crafting with is a lvl 41 Natural Origin MA/SR scrapper. How can I tell what IOs will work with him, or will ALL IOs work with him, or any of my toons?
Well, like regular enhancements you can only slot IOs that are less than 4 levels above you. (So for lvl 41 you can only slot up to lvl 44 IOs). You can slot any level of IO below that, since IOs never "expire" and always provide a bonus. However you would not be doing yourself any favors slotting things like lvl 10 IOs since the amount they enhance is not worth it to your lvl 41 scrapper.
You can slot any common IO you find, so long as it takes that kind of enhancement. (no slotting healing powers with damage obviously)
For Set IOs you can only put them in powers that accept that specific catagory of enhancement. As an an example Dragon's Tail is a PBAoE power and only takes those Set IOs. So if you have an IO belonging to a Ranged set you won't be able to place it there, even if it's something that would otherwise fit like accuracy/damage.
You can mouse over the powers in the enhancement screen to see what sets they take. Some powers only take one type of set while others may accept 2 or more different types. Most of the time it is fairly straightforward what kind of sets will fit where but some of them can be a little confusing at first so it never hurts to check before crafting an IO you won't be able to use.
