Hail of Bullets too short on Range

Hail of Bullets is to short range for what it does and mostly what it is. A bullet.

HoB is designed like Nova or Inferno, but does half the damage. A reasonable balance would be to increase the range to 40 feet. This would make HoB a unique power, but not an overpowering one. It would give the DP blaster freedom of movement. Similar to Assault Rifle or Archery, though not as much. A good balance.

It also doesn't cause an endurance crash and recharges in one third of the time. It doesn't need to have its area of effect increased to 2.56 times its current size. It's perfectly fine where it is now.

That's asking for a big (and highly unlikely) change, especially considering there's no tradeoff for the increased radius.

Making HoB a 40' radius PBAoE actually would make it OP in nearly every sense. You'd be able to hit 90-100% of everything in a room on about 80-90% of the mission maps in use, with zero effort, every 40-60 seconds (even lower with a /kin)... with mini-nuke (and possibly fulcrum-shifted) damage.

Aside from that, it would be the ONLY 40' PBAoE in the game... there are no others... which means that a change like this will likely never happen, ever.

Now maybe... just MAYBE... something like this could be balanced by decreasing the damage output by roughly 50%, increasing the recharge to double what it is, and increasing the endurance cost to somewhere around 30-40 end... but then, who in their right mind wouldn't skip it alltogether?

sorry, but I've gotta say badidea:nothanks

Yes, I know. They rarely change anything. HoB works ok if you are surrounded.

Which you should be, since it a PbAoE. Jump into the mob, and fire it. It's not difficult.

I agree, but will note that EM Pulse has a 60' radius. Something that big is not unheard of.

It could work against you if they kept the 16 target cap.

I don't know how the targets are chosen, but if it isn't the closest 16, firing off an AoE that large in a room with 2 spawns could have some odd effects, like completely missing the enemies standing next to you.

They do change things. HoB had that temporary defense increase added to it while using it, and I never thought they would go for something like that. Seriously. I was shocked as all heck when they did it. Decrease the animation time on something, surely, but add a temp defense buff when they don't have anything like that (and it really shouldn't need it)? Crazy! Not that I'm complaining, mind.

And as you noted, it's fine if you do it in the middle of a bunch of mobs. That's how most of the nova type powers work, and it works fine for that.
