Live updater won't connect

I was able to connect and play for a few hours last night with no issues at all, but today the updater just isn't getting the job done. It tries to connect, and I've let it get up to 10 attempts before closing it in frustration.

I've tried running the exe directly as many have suggested, and a popup says I cannot do so and must go through the updater.

Any ideas?

You must tell the exe which game ("project") to run. Run the command "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe" -project coh (or "C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe" -project coh if you're on 64bit Windows) to directly launch the game. You can copy & paste that command into the Run prompt (accessible by pressing Win+R on your keyboard).

Thanks for your reply. However, the thing that fixed it was the most basic PC "fix" of all.

A reboot *facepalm*

I'm having this same problem, rebooted about 10 times now, still no joy.
