Psy/Em is definitely the top choice.
Fire/Em is still worth a mention and so is Rad/Em.

I'd give the nod to Son/EM over Rad/EM (Rad would've been nice but they standardized the t1 and t2 recharge times, meaning you can't use N-Bolt as a proc bomb, so it doesn't have much going for it anymore), but Psi/EM is still waaaaaaaay better than the other options.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
Yes.
Son/EM rocks too. I didnt mention it because I run a Sonic corruptor and dont play it on blasters...for some reason Id rather play sonic on a corr.

i've actually been wondering about this. is psi/em *that* much better than sonic? rather, is it that much better to make me reroll my sonic/em to psi/em

Sonic is nice for setting up spikes with Screech but that's usually the job of the Rad/Sonic. If you're not going to be doing lots of arena, sure, Son/EM is fine.

archery is not bad if built for 1v1s (just saying since divine hasn't posted yet)
It's not that Archery is bad, it's that there are plenty of primaries that are better.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
I like archery because I feel like I am shooting fast and nobody can see where it came from....lol I love it when someone says "Where did that come from?!"
My order of blasters
1. Psi/EM (Obviously)
2. Sonic/EM (More delayed dmg and stacking -resists makes it better than fire on teams, imo)
3. Fire/EM (Like mac said, flares with procs on auto = win)
4. Rad/EM and Arch/EM (Rad has better secondary effects but arch has better range, playstyle preference really)
5. Elec/EM (Great end drainer)
6. The rest, none of which should be used in pvp
It really depends on what you are considering when you say what is the best and what is not.
Team (ladders/leagues)
1. Psi/Em - 80 foot attacks and delayed dmg.
2. Archery/Em - Stun + 80 foot attack on blazing arrow. (instant Dmg like i12 style)
3. Sonic/Em - Stun + -res
4. Fire/Em - Fall's really low due to the fact that blaze does horrible dmg and fire blast roots like shout now.
5. Rad/Em - Have one cant stand playing it. Cosmic burst has horrible range.
1v1's
1. Psi/em - Placate proc...enough said.
2. Fire/em - Flares is beast when double proc.
3. Archery/em - Have yet to lose to a sonic or rad.
4. Sonic/em - Has the -res going for it..thats about it.
5. Rad/em - .....
Just as a point, doesn't Blaze do at max 93% of the damage of blazing arrow (with all DoT tics) and on average ~86% of the damage of blazing arrow, but activates in almost half the time.
If you fired off pre i13 a chain of Blaze/Blast/Ball/Blaze you were looking at an average (with dot tics) 549.2 damage at unenhanced values. If you look at the post i13 chain of Blaze/Flares/Blast/Flares with average dot tics, you actually see an overall increase to 554.3 damage at unenhanced values. I know right??? I haven't tried Blaze/Flares/Blast/Blaze to see if you can run it with no gap (With DR on recharge and all), but that would be 616.5 damage. Blaze did get its damage cut (by 9-13%), but flares (replacing fireball) and fire blast both saw significant increases to their damage.
Basically, fire still hits like a truck, I'd put it after psi and close with sonic in second.
It still does a pile of damage, it just doesn't matter quite as much anymore with free resists, no unresisted damage (Didn't blasters used to get 30% then later reduced to 10%) and defender debuffs no longer being unresistable.

Placate proc's busted and will probably never be fixed, and delayed damage means most of your attack chain will arrive at about the same time.

The do own though hahahaha.
Last I heard (recently, actually) engineering was "aware of the issue" with the placate proc (same for Stalker/VEAT placate, so we all know where that's headed), but honestly it's not the placate proc that makes Psi good because you'd have to be pants-on-head retarded to not be able to press the tab key to find your target in a duel, and there are far better things to spend on that slot in a team build. Is the placate annoying? Sure. Does it make the set stupid good? Only if you're really bad.
Regarding the way delayed damage works, I don't think that'll change short of adjusting the projectile speed specifically for Psi attacks (and the projectile speed was already sped up, so it probably won't happen).

When they finally nerf Psi, I'm sure both remaining PvPrs will complain.
Infinity and Victory mostly
dUmb, etc.
lolz PvP anymore, Market PvP for fun and profit
Can I make a list too? This is how it goes from my personal 1v1 experience...
1v1's
1. Rad/em
Rad is the only one that can beat me 1v1, everything else is terrible. My list is best
Placate proc's busted and will probably never be fixed, all your attacks are 80+ feet (125+ if you are running Boost Range and that's before any set bonuses), and delayed damage means most of your attack chain will arrive at about the same time. Fire/EM is probably better than Psi/EM in 2v2s (or 3v3s maybe) because Flares is retarded (slot a hold proc, put it on auto, win) but in duels or large team stuff Psi/EM's just that much better.
Sonic is nice for setting up spikes with Screech but that's usually the job of the Rad/Sonic. If you're not going to be doing lots of arena, sure, Son/EM is fine. |
Why is it slotting Flare with proc is so powerful?
Thanks
