Embarrassing Mistells

For those of you who have ever been to Pocket D on Virtue, you should already know most of what gets said in Broadcast or Local. Still.....

I was in Pocket D once, and was chatting in Local with a friend. I don't know how it happened, but somehow I was switched to Broadcast when I typed what was only supposed to be between us:

"Level 50 Scrapper looking for ERP team"

Use your imagination as to what replies I might have (and did) received.

I've chatted with people in different channels before, sometimes forgetting to switch back and forth. So a debate started on one channel, I responded there, went to a different channel and said something, and continued the debate in that wrong channel. People then asked me who the heck I was talking to. Heh.

In a similar vein, just last night I made a comment in the wrong channel. I switched to the correct channel to remake the comment. Meanwhile, somebody in the first channel asked me what I was talking about, so I explained it to them...in the second channel.

The most epic mis-tell ever was in Broadcast on Protector in 2007. I cannot repeat it verbatim without breaking multiple forum rules, but I can say it happened in Port Oakes, it was an ERP mis-tell, it came from a Bots Mastermind I was standing near at the time, and it described what the mastermind's bots were doing to their chat partner using various "attachments". High speed rotary action and the other person's posterior, in concert, were mentioned. The character in question was female.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, has topped that since.

Just recently I sent a Tell to the wrong Global friend with the message that went something like "I am in your Farm stealing all your tickets"

This particular Global Friend hates Farming so...yes...my cheeks were cherry red when realized what I had done.

Lisa.

The only embarrassing MT I have witnessed came a few months ago. I was in Steel, in the tailor to pick up my level 20 costume mish. There had not been anything said in Broadcast for quite a while, when suddenly we see a very ERP related comment about a female someone removing the pants of a male someone to get at what is underneath said pants said. This was in Broadcast and said by the toon standing next to me at the tailor.

That IMMEDIATELY brought every person in Steel to the Broadcast channel with questions of "What was THAT?" and "What about MY pants?"

This was followed up with the "OMG, MT!!!" and "I'M SO SORRY!" comments. The player immediately logged, and I haven't seen that toon on again.

And that folks, is why you should keep your ERP in your base or a mission. You know, one of those private instances, so that if something slips out into Broadcast or Local, you're still safe.

Of course, if you shoot something like that into a global channel, it doesn't matter where you are....

I do mistells quite a bit, but fortunately I can't recall any particularly embarrassing ones.

Yeah, I've done that multiple times.

I've never ERPed, but it seems to me it should be done in a manner similar to posting bids on the market. Always take an extra second or two to double check where you're posting.
