Fixed wings

Now that there are animated tails and fixed position tails it's got me thinking about wings.

I'd love to see fixed Wings on characters so when you are flying your wings extend and just stay extended instead of flapping. Then when you land they fold back up again. It'd make it more of a gliding appearance but I think it would just be cool. Any chance we could get this?

I would like this option for several of the wings, especially Tech.

That will likely happen if they ever actually get around to creating those attachment points on the backs of characters for backpacks/rocketpacks/etc.

I've got a Tech-based character I created about 5 years ago that was supposed to fly around with a "Buzz Lightyear" type jetpack with fixed wings that would pop out while in flight. Obviously at the time the game did not have a jetpack that worked like that, but somehow I always assumed the Devs would add something like that eventually to fit the character concept I wanted.

Well now it's been 5+ years and I'm still waiting...
Who knew something like that would be so hard to create in this game.

I'm not even sure it would be that hard. Depending on the mechanism the devs wanted to use, it could be creating a specific version of the wings that has the "in air" animation of simply being extended and still (just trim the rest of the animation off of the wing animations and leave them fully extended) or it could be a flight pose that leaves the wings extended rather than moving. It would be some degree of work, but, since most of the wings already have full animations and you could cannibalize those for the static wing animations, I'm not sure it would be a great load of work.

The most I can figure, it's likely one of those "not worth the effort" things: the devs probably think that there are not enough people interested in static wings to make the expenditure of time worth it.

Yeah, but it has to be less work to un-animate the wings than it was to animate tails, and they did that.

It really seems simple. Use the wings they have now, (At the same attachment points they already use.) Make them not flap. They extended, they retract. That's it. I mean they've modeled the wings already, they just have to take the motion out.
