SR is nice

Finally respec my Claws/SR to get the defense I lost from the BotZ fix. Added in ET in the build and that combined with shockwave... Ohh it is nice...


And I like fighting Romans... could spam shockwave with no concern of KB

Well, here's one someone on these boards gave me over a year ago when I asked about making a BS/SR AV soloist. I still haven't finished it myself (mostly lacking the purples and I keep shooting inf to my other toons) and I've deviated very slightly from it (exchange Super Jump for Confront), but it's still quite nice. However, it's meant for single-hard targets. No AoE outside of Headsplitter. There'd be a few alterations I'd make for a more general purpose use, like swapping Slash for Slice, and etc.

SR excels at dealing with massive amounts of incoming attacks that don't deal massive damage in a single hit. That's when you can leverage the PSDR.

That pretty much sums it up.

In the Cimer TF for example, my /Shields could under duress solo spawns but I got one shotted by the minotaur/cyclops on my /SR. It happened twice in the same mission. Kind of embarrassing actually.

But I don't want to give the impression that /SR isn't very good or I don't like my main. I do, and it is.

Very neat series of posts that pose some of the same issues I've been wrestling with while working on my lvl 50 DB/SR scrapper and which have helped me with my thinking on this topic. My problem has been how to get Physical Perfection, Aid Self, soft-capped defenses, and a BF-AV attack chain. After much wrestling with Mids, I have the basic outline of the build.

All SR powers except Elude (8 powers)

PS, AS, BF, VS, SS, and 1K Cuts from DB (6 powers)

Fighting: Kick, Tough, and Weave (3 powers)

Fitness; Swift, Health, and Stamina (3 powers)

Medicine: Aid Other (like I ever will) and Aid Self (2 powers)

Body Mastery: Conserve Power and Physical Perfection (2 powers)

In the end, I decided that I lost the least from not having a travel power. I'll have Raptor Packs from the Shard and a combination of Sprint/Swift/Quickness for long-distance travel. I may even drop the clams for the Martial Arts pack in order to get Ninja Run.

I'll post a full Mids build when I've got that completed.

I, personally, prefer +hp over +regen. With sufficient investment (and accolades), you can hit 1900-2000 HP, which goes a very long way to making you very hard to 'lucky two shot', which is SR's only real weakness aside from tohit buffs. As a secondary bonus, +HP trickles into +regen, albeit at a lesser rate than what +regen bonuses give you.
I also prefer +regen on my characters. HP is very good here though on SR, fortunately, most +hp bonuses, are hand in hand with regen bonuses <3 numinas. There really isn't any situation, where you have to choose between +hp or +regen. I find aid self nigh unnecessary. Would not suggest skipping tough, not just for the steadfast, but especially for helping avoiding the lucky shots that 1 or 2 shot kill you. I find Weave unnecessary, as it is if you don't mind slotting for defense bonuses.

Can't imagine a better build than this for most anything you need. Note: When capped, ditch parry for slash, and with ninja run you can ditch SJ, or at least definitely put it off for later and pick up quickness sooner. If you ditch it, i'd suggest picking up stealth. Its nice for stealth situations, and in those rare chances of enough cascading defense failure with your DDR will easily be enough defense to ocvercome most things with it to keep you above the cap. Would suggest a GoTA 7.5% run speed in its base slot, or if you have the influence makes a great place for the shield wall 3% resistance IO. (still waiting for the pve defense set that has a steadfast equivalent for 5% resistance unique grrr)

I'm leveling a SR brute atm, and man, I forgot how squishy they are leveling up, lol. But the late game payoff makes it worth it... just 3 more levels until I can start getting some key IO's in...

Regarding skippable powers the OP asked.... Real SR's don't use travel powers. Fitness/Medicine/Fighting/Hasten.... (Yep just hasten, no need for speed here ) Nothing is more fun than being super au naturel.

Did you also soft cap your Invuln tank? Because if you did, your tank is a lot more survivable. He dodges the same number of attacks, but on top of that you have resistance (90% S/L, about 30% all else except Psi), greater HP and Dull Pain. Seriously, with similar Defense numbers your brute just can't outsurvive an Invuln tank.

Here's a Mids design for my lvl 50 DB/SR scrapper, Ms Pris. It follows the general outline I described above. In terms of IOs, I'm about 60% of the way to the collection I need to make this design fully realized. As I said above, I've decided to go without a travel power in order to have fighting, medicine, fitness, and body mastery, as well as being fully soft-capped and having a strong attack chain.
