Well if you are after AoE in your primary, I would avoid both DM and EM. DB is ok for aoe, but why not try something that stalkers don't have access to? FM, SS, and WM/BA all have decent AoE options and will give you something fresh to enjoy.
If you go with DB, WP is a solid choice. The knockdown in sweep gives you a bit of breathing room to supercharge your Rttc.
Going with electric armor is also pretty decent, as the mitigation in sweep can be useful to allow a moment to catch your breath. Also, Lightning Reflexes can be nice to stack some recharge into your attacks.
If it were me, I would go for DB/elec armor because I don't see them all the time. Also, the addition of a damage aura is helpful to fill out your desire for AoE.

Both /ElA and /WP are great picks for DB. The former will lend itself better to offensive builds later on, and the latter to defensive ones. But you can also build /ElA defensively and /WP offensively, it's just that such a direction is not their optimum IMO.
In both cases you'll have great AoE and ST damage as DB is a very balanced set.
K, Thank you guys for your input. After compareing both builds in MIDs, I went with /WP.
it has just as much res against Smashing and lethal, and a decent def agaist everthing else. the +end and +regen helped me decide.
DB/WP was my first toon, loved it back then. heres the build i have for it that might help u with slotting options since theres a million ways to build one. I choose to keep the sweep combo and attack vitals combo. left me room for all of WP powers. took taunt insteada the self-rez and slotted def for high energy def against rikti, can always switch out the eradicates or oblits for s/l/m def. hope it helps.

Hey all, I'm thinking of finally rolling a brute to lev 50. I have 3 lev 50 stalkers so i have plenty of exp with EM/ DM/ and ELM/ all been paird with /NIN /SR and /WP
My goal is to have plenty of AOE, and have a decent suvivability.
I allready have a ELM/SD scrapper so I wanted to go with something else.
My mind is pretty much set on DB for the aoe, and the concept. So im torn between elec armour, or WP.
With someone eles exp what would be a better match with DB?
