Sonic Cage Magnitude

I plan to make a Sonic/Sonic Defender. I gather Sonic Cage gets a magnitude bonus when slotted for intangibility.

Is any amount of slotting sufficient for a single Defender to Cage the healing nictus in the ITF? Recluse in the STF? Freedom Phalanx members in the LRSF if I Go Rogue?

(If so, how much?)

Unslotted it will not cage the healing Nicti, Since I havent yet afforded it slots, I cant comment at what point it will.

Does that also apply to Recluse and his Lt.'s? I'm not clear on how to navigate enemy abilities in that site.

The Mag 500 protection to Intangibility is fairly unique to Romulus' Nictus allies. Most AVs have no special intangibility protection, so it should work fine against them. I forget exactly how protected STF-Recluse (or LRSF-Statesman) is against it though; I suppose I could ask the resident cage-guru.


Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

I have to say, it really grinds my gears when the devs give any enemy protection against rare and situational attacks like this.

No-one can accuse the cage powers of being overpowered, since they are so inimical to 99% of the play that goes on, which is steamrollering PvE content. Taking away the ability of these powers to work in one special situation where they could be extremely useful just seems a bit mean-spirited. Even if the cages allowed you to trivialise the Romulus encounter, it wouldn't mean everyone would go out and build a FF-er or Sonic Defender.

For level 54 AVs you need >10 magnitude of Intangibility. A defender can reach this by slotting 3 even level Mezz HOs in their cage. Bear in mind that while the Orange tower is up it is unlikely you would hit Recluse with the Cage power.

Does caging a tower make it harder for Recluse to munch up the party Tank, or was that just an incidental comment?

The Red tower buffs Recluse's Damage
The Blue his tohit
The Orange his Defense
The Green his Regen

They do buff some other things but those are the major aspects.
