Is there some maintenence I dont know about?

Crashed

I looked at the news and at the announcement sections first and couldnt find any. But about five minutes ago I was booted out of the game while in the middle of making an AE arc.

Ever since every time I try to log in I get 'Cant Connect to DB server.' I see the server load is all green, but sometimes it is...

So did the servers go kerflooey? Or is it just me. At the moment I assume it is me. But who knows...

Checking the server status page shows Virtue is down.
Were you on Virtue?

The server status page has shown Virtue being down every time I look for at least a month now. Seriously, I've been on Virtue while it's said that.

Color me resolved. I can get back on now!

Maybe it was a server hiccup?

And yes, I was on Virtue.

Edit: And I AM on Virtue right now... and the page says Virtue is down... O.o

It's true that Virtue has had stability problems lately, but the company is trying to get it resolved. And while no one is saying that this issue isn't frustrating,it is a good example of why players should spread out onto other servers. That way when a server crashes people can still play on one of the others.

Imaging how frustrating CO or STO is when they crash. They only have a single server, and when it goes down no one can play. Even worse both games share the same login server, so when that crashes for one game no one can log in to either game. And that has happened a dozen times the past few months.

Virtue has had stability issues for about a month now. Maybe where it's a higher population server, the hardware or software has worn out faster than the others? Who knows. But in the past 30 days I've crashed twice while Gifting an enhancement to someone, once by trying to open the market window, once when someone nearby set off an aoe power, and once when I was just standing there. I must have been standing really menacingly...

Over the years I've noticed that it seems these problems crop up around the release of features that have a huge impact on the game. So I'm not surprised to see them now.

Ahhh.... I just recently came back to COX, so I didnt realize Virtue was on the fritz. But still, I played for hours no problem... One ten minute period of annoyance isnt going to send me into any kind of rage.

Glad to hear its being looked into, and it isnt a problem on my end, hehe...

On a side note... you couldnt pry me from Virtue with a large crowbar. I'll stand for its crashings as much as I have to. You know I love you, Virtue...

That's a nice attitude to have. You should do fine here.

Heh... with all the rage flying around, I do my best not to add to it. Besides, overall things have improved since I have been away.

The larger AE file size is very nice... I might re-do my old arcs now that I can put more detail into them. Also, GR seems near... it had best be... because if it comes out this fall its going to have to compete with Fallout: New Vegas, Fable 3, Halo Reach, and Enslaved for my time budget...

Damn, really? I mean, I can understand having only a single shard (like EVE Online), but if you've only got one shard you should back it up with more than just one server. (I'm not sure if you could find a single computer able to act as EVE's single shard.)

Maybe I'm not up on the terminology and server is the wrong word, but here when Virtue crashes people have the option of switching to Freedom, or Pinnacle, or whichever other server they prefer. But when CO crashes no one can play. The game is down for everyone. The same goes for STO.

Both of those games also share the same Login server/application/program whatever it's called, and when it crashes no one can log into either game.
