A EULA question here, if you please.

Hi all, I have a good friend, who is Disabled, in that he has severe and debilitating Arthritis. It has turned his Hands into basically balls. Now in the past, he has been able to do some things online, with the help of specialized Keyboards and the like, But as it progresses, It get's harder for him to do so.

A long time ago, I played with using my voice to control my toons in WoW, with using Dragon Software, and then eventually Microsofts own software.

I imagine this would be very easy to set up for CoX also, But my question is simply, Can I do such a thing and be ok with the EULA.

I could see where this would be similar almost to Automation, in that while I can have it for example, I say "One" it presses one on the keyboard.

But it could also be used as "One" and it presses keys one through 5.

Before I even try and push him into getting this game, I wanted to check first, and see what the legalize is here. The last thing I want is for him to get a copy, and then get banned right off.

Or better yet, If anyone has another suggestion, as for helping him to play, I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks so much for your time everyone.

its an accessability to the game thing, not a problem with automation.

You'd still be there inputing, granted, you could 'Automate' by being acros the room, calling out numbers for your farmer while you play on PS3 or something, but I think generally it would be ok, especially since your doing it with the intentions of getting a new hero on his way.

But I hate Dragon, but then thats mostly how difficult NHS IT support people make to roll out roaming profiles....

I'm sure that anything your friend needs to play the game is fine. Accessibility issues and their solutions shouldn't contravene any EULA.

I would PM Avatea on this, as we're not experts on the fine points of game's EULA (since you could essentially "bot" with speech-to-text software) and how it interacts with disabled persons.

Thanks so much for the reply's all. I'll PM Avatea then as suggested. Well, as soon as I get off my Derriere, and go feed the cows.

He'll be fine. The issue is not what the capability of the software is, but how it is used. It's like people who use sophisticated gaming keyboards. The hardware itself is not the concern. The concern is if they use it to automate sequences of commands. That would automating game play and that is prohibited.

pretty much as long as you're not setting it up so that he can say "get me to level 50" and the game automatically plays itself with no further interaction, you should be ok.

It's intended to prohibit automatic gold farmer bots and such.

Thanks all, I went ahead and PM'd Avatea earlier. I kinda figured this is how it would go, But never hurts to check first.
