Sorry I missed all the discussion so this is a very late entry.
This build has solo'ed many GMs (not to mention tons of AVs) The BotZ nerf did hurt it a bit but it runs 40+% Ranged Def.
I think its still a solid build and might even improve a bit with some reworking. If you have a Gladiator's +3% its almost soft capped.

Can you supply an AV solo'ing build for those of us that do not have unlimited funds?
Once you get to think about soloing builds for AV`s, you have to invest much, since you need good recovery (on most builds provided by the +recovery procs= expensive), good recharge for core-powers (thinking of LoTG´s and purples or or or= expensive) and defense (some sets expensive, the global 3% from PvP IO very expensive).
Bottom line:
You can´t be god without investment.

What build are you looking at? I am seeing 29.8% ranged defense.
Edit: My bad. Some how, clicking on the data link build downloaded a different build for me. But copy->pasting the data chunk worked. (Wierd)
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
hehe...i think u opened my build on the 1st attempt because that's what i have for ranged defense.
I have a perma-hasten/perma-AM build that works well on teams, but terribly solo. I also have a Ranged softcapped build that was intended for solo but doesn't work quite as well as I'd hoped because it just isn't fast enough.
This is a compromise build, a few seconds shy of perma-AM and a Ranged Def of over 30%. It trades speed and endurance for the extra 10% of Def of DarkInvado's build, and brings a bit more to team-play too.
But if anyone can spot any obvious mistakes, please let me know!

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.

thanks to everyone who helped me with different build concepts and advice. here is the build i'm going with(mostly, read on). i still need the miracle unique and reactive armors. i'm rethinking the reactive armors after checking their current prices because that's a lot of money for .6% def. i have the cash but i don't think that's a very good value and won't do much for overall performance. might just toss a couple aegis in there.
i'm really noticing the extra damage from the apoc proc in shriek. i'm loving it. thanks again, nuclear girl. due to all the recharge the purple set provides with hasten and AM up i can just shriek, shriek, shriek enemies to death and watch the proc hit for more and more it's got me wanting to io my lvl 50 sonic/mm blaster who's just collecting dust.
