Something to pair with /Energy

Hey guys,

basically looking to play something that utilises Boost Range to it's most effectiveness. I did read that Archery was good. But since its Archery, and I don't seem to be able to get on with the look of archery waiting till 35 to get the Talsorian Bow...too long, and I would be afraid of its mostly Lethal damage making it low damage output.

I'd prefer a set with a snipe, just for a stupid amount of range going on.

So, any suggestions?

Assault Rifle.. Boost Range meshes extremely well with the cone attacks from AR (Buckshot, Flamethrower & Full-Auto), has Sniper Rifle and the tier 1 & 2 AR attacks both have longer than normal range to begin with (90' & 100'), so Boost Range turns them into mini-snipes. Plus EM's melee attacks help make up for the lack of a tier 3 single target attack in AR.

Archery, Assault Rifle, or Psionic. All these have full attack chains that can be used at 80ft+, so combining that with boost range, you can go through most of your attacks at long range.

See reasons why I dont get on with Archery for reasons why I dont get on with AR, even less so as theres no Rifle I really like, but thanks for the feedback.

if it elps with the advice, i'm really looking for good ST damage.

Ice/Energy used to be extremely popular all around. Very fluid single-target attack chain with added control. Doesn't have a snipe and Bitter Ice Blast only has a 50ft. range(still better than most tier 3 blasts) but it's still effective. I'd also recomend Archery.

Arch/energy is the combination that is best suited to what you want to do, as Archery has aim (which AR lacks). I'd reccomend dealing with the "Ugly bow" until 35.

Psi/EM was mentioned and it is good at single target ranged damage but when you hit things the resist psi damage in the mid to late game you'll most likely hate it.

On the other hand, Psi/EM rocks in an ITF; when the mobs hit Unstoppable and everyone else's damage drops into the 10-40 range, you're still pumping hits of 200-600 into them. It's situational; there are opponents against which Psi sucks rocks, and opponents that you'll steamroller.

My AR gal wears retro clothes [similar to that dude that faces you in Ouro] and uses the Council rifle. In a few levels, once she's around 43, I'll get the Nemesis Rifles.

Granted there's not a ton of weapon customization for AR, but I do dig the Council rifle.

[Off Topic: I've got to make a Broadsword/ scrap because there are a ton of Weapon Customizations for that. Too bad it's sloooow compared to what I'm used to.]

The image doesn't show it much, but the Council rifle is quite large. Also, it's incredibly easy to kill 200 Council.

My beef with AR/ is the burst sound. Oh, I'm so sick of that.

Trust me, you want Archery/Energy. You get a full single target attack chain with a base 80' range, the best mini-nuke in the game (that also has a full 80' base range), and the longest standard cone (not counting Full Auto). With Boost Range and a couple of range IOs or Hami-Os in Fistfull of Arrows you can have a 100 foot range cone plus a 127 foot range on all your other shots. You can also push Ranged Shot to over 320 feet if you want... you'll probably need a spotter to target through though.

As far as the ugly bow goes, the Arcane Wooden bow looks decent and the Composite Bow has some cool color combinations. I prefer magic-oriented archers because I'm not really impressed with the tech-style bows (other than the Vanguard one) but they aren't that bad.

I have a level 47 Fire/Energy and he's fun to play.

I didn't take the snipe but Boost range makes the fireball, etc, travel! With a snipe it would be even more fun. BR also seems to expand my cone attacks too. I didn't take Rain Of Fire, the snipe, or the nuke from Fire Blast. That way the set feels very fast.

I took Electrical Mastery APP for the hold and the armor.

Archery can fire a Boost Range enhanced Rain of Arrows around a corner.

'Nuff said.

Ice can do the same with Blizzard, but it doesn't have a snipe, where Archery does. Also, Archery's tier 3 heavy hitting blast both comes earlier than most ad has a full 80' range.

Archery/Energy is the set that is the absolute best at what you say you want to do: Extreme long range fighting.
