Dio passed away this morning. He was 67 yrs old and had been battling stomach cancer for several months. Dio was one of the great Metal gods, lead singer of Black Sabbath, Rainbow and his own band Dio. An Italian-American he popularized the devil horns symbol used the world over by metal fans.

The Man on the Silver Mountain has left the building.

My uncle's utterly insane ex-wife claimed to have been *ahem* physically intimate with him, in San Francisco in '70s. I'm still not sure if that's awesome or not.

Anyway, rock on in the hereafter... hopefully in the good parts, the parts you weren't always making music about. Hopefully any alleged groupie freakiness with crazy aunt Donna didn't irreparably scar your immortal soul.

Wow, I am in shock. I love his music and I did not expect this.

Rest in Peace Dio, you will be missed by all metal heads.

You've been left on your own

If your circle says unbroken
Then you're a lucky man
Cause it never never never has for me
In the palace of the virgin
Lies the chalice of the soul
And its likely you might find the answer there.

I saw him live for the first time in the 80s. His vocal prowess and on stage charisma made him a God among metal fans forever.
RIP RJD

Invisible was truly one of the hardest rocking songs of all time. Never forget the first time I heard it, which is surprising given my state at the time :P

And Holy Diver has to be one of the best albums, song for song. Not a weak song on it just teeth rattling, hold on tight rock and F'n roll. Not pissin and moanin about who's daddy did what to who or who'se mamma didn't love them.

Shut up and rock.

And we always said that Dio was the BEST at the post-lyric, song wind down, extra lyrics at the end of the song mumblings.

Rock on Man on the Silver Mountain.

She was straight from hell but you never could tell 'cause you were blinded by her light
She could crack your brain with magic pain and turn a paler shade of white....
