Ive been playing COH for months on my new laptop with Windows 7 and have had no issues.
But in the past week or so my laptop shuts down every 20 minutes or so of playing, i think it overheats now playing COH.

was there a change in the game in the past week? or I wonder if its my system.
btw I turns the graphics and the gamma all the way down, the game is very bright with no shadows, and my system still overheads.

its a dell studio 1555 with Windows 7

thanks

More likely it's dust build-up, not a change in CoH.

Try blowing compressed air into the vents of the laptop. My daughter's laptop had this problem, and even though there wasn't any visible dust in the vents, cleaning it out with the compressed air made a huge difference immediately.

As above, check for dust buildup. You'd also be well served by making sure your fans are running properly too. After that, you could also try getting one of those laptop coolong pads to help keep the temps down.

And while it almost certainly has nothing to do with your heat issue, I will note that your video drivers are fairly out of date. You can get the latest ones here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...-Bit%20Edition

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

The change in weather might have more to do with it than anything else. How much warmer is it in your playing environment now than it was a month or two ago?

As a matter of fact, out of date video drivers, along with increased demands on the video adapter, can cause overheating of the gpu... since a laptop case is a small enclosed space, when one component gets extra hot, they all do, pretty much.

It's always a good idea to keep your drivers up to date, but moreso when you are noticing problems with applications that may have changed... obviously, CoH has changed a bit.
