Spasibo Comrade, I appreciate the gesture... lol.
Turns out this person arguing with me today isn't even his friend, just an acquaintance speaking up for him. I tell ya, I'm tempted to lose some karma, ...gees, my brain went, wait you don't even know him? You just felt compelled to annoy me?!
Thank you for getting all your facts wrong.
I re-read that thread, and don't really see what all the hubbub was about. I take it there was a deleted post, but the stuff that's left doesn't seem like anything bad to me. Some posts were a bit curt, but then it's tough to read mood or intentions into a bunch of text.
I think I'd just forget about it all, and move on - some things are just not worth worrying about.
In fact, if any artists want to get upset with me then apologize with art, have at it! J/k!!

I've looked at that thread a couple of times at the posts mentioned, and have yet to find any drama. I saw some of the most tame overreactions on the boards. No shock and awe instilled in me. Take your apologies back. At least stop. And really LJ. Just refresh six times a minute like the rest of us. My philosophy is any feedback is a gift, whether the art is a gift or not. Expect nothing.
All in all I think there were several points of over reaction and not just by TJ... But for me the most telling aspect is who has tried to fix the situation and who has gone to bury their head in the sand. Wanting to avoid drama is all fine and dandy but the drama has been caused and remnants only remain because some people can't man up and accept an apology...
Anyway, this thread is getting boring. I'm going to go see what's the doings over in Jordan's Town...

I think it's more than that. He needs to toughen the **** up and clear miscommunications instead of getting emotional. Nobody owes him anything.

That post was epic.
Just read it fully. Why did you apologize at all LJ? His ramble was annoying. The no and no post was grating. The deleted post (which I remember and won't go into detail because the mods wanted it gone) was a black-ball for me.
Like I said. Clearly, LJ is Satan.
Yeah im gonna agree with several people I never agree with .
so a few points i'll walk away from this thread with
1)LJ is wayyyyyy nicer than me
2)toss out a temper tantrum and get free art ! (by the way LJ i've had several temper tantrums here so i'll be expecting my inbox to be full of free art later this week )
3)people that want advice then complain about advice are amusing
4)some people really do need a thicker skin ...this is a pretty laid back forum , yeah some of us do not get along and we bump heads but I think this is the first time someones run from the forums and refuses to ever come back
5)I think i'll end as I began , namely "LJ is wayyyyyy nicer than me" and Tack on Wassy's "So obviously LJ is Satan "
No one gets to pick on our LJ!
LJ, keep the picture posted and just change the name to "Just Tex"....or maybe change it to "Just Text"! TEHE Either way, KEEP IT POSTED!!! After all, it is your work!

I would delete it on principle. Or edit in a long waxed moustache, black eye, and horns... and nipple clamps.
I haven't spoken to TJ but what I know of him is that he doesn't like "drama" and he will walk away (like he did) letting everyone know he will no longer talk about that subject (like he did) instead of letting it get worst. So this whole thread is a call out (you did put his name in the subject ) and he will not (from what I know of him) come here and answer since he said he wouldn't. Out of principle ...
So, we can all keep talking about it but that is all we are doing. Just my point of view ... |
I've known TJ for years and have had the pleasure (yes, pleasure) of meeting him a number of times at various COH related events. He's a good guy and a real gentleman...but he can also be a bit of a curmudgeon and set in his ways. He recognizes this within himself tries his best to understand the other perspective...if he's not getting it or seeing the other person's viewpoint, he will say as such. So he oftentimes posts from the "I don't see your point, convince me" perspective. If he still isn't convinced, he'll say as such to see if there is something else the person can offer to change his viewpoint. Not to be a jerk, but in a true attempt to understand what the person is trying to get at.
He's also the type of person who when truly awestruck and grateful for something as nice and awesome as LJ did for him, he wants to do it proper-like. For him, a simple "thank you" was just not sufficient to really express how he felt about the piece...and he wanted to hold off on extending his thanks until he could do things right in an extended post that would put into words his true thoughts and feelings. I don't know where lormsby on DA got the idea that TJ is holding any sort of animosity towards LJ...as I understand it, TJ was indeed grateful for the gift and was saddened that things turned into a flame-fest before he could extend his proper thanks.
The first sentence that Thorn wrote really hits the nail on the head when it comes to TJ's personality. He does not like drama and will not deal with it in any way, shape or form and will walk away from it to keep the drama from getting worse. He doesn't want to add fuel to the flames and will say his peace and move on.
The second sentence is partially right regarding the principle of it all...I haven't chatted about him about this thread specifically, so I don't know if he views it as being called out (though speculating on his personality and given the nature of LJ's generosity, I doubt he sees it as being "called out"). I do know, however, that he's walked away from the art forums as a whole because of the thread in question and moderator actions within that thread (which I will not go into any further detail because of the forum rules). So he's promised himself he will not post here anymore...and will likely not post in this thread because of principle (just not because it's a call-out thread; rather, he's not posting on the art forums at all anymore).
I know this is coming across like a friend sticking up for a friend...partially true, but please do realize that I do not stick-up for friends blindly. TJ is only human and is a man of faults (like all people)...and I have called him out on some of his faults in the past. TJ is indeed a great guy and I'm really saddened that there was a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding (on both sides) and that everyone here hasn't had the opportunity to get acquainted with the TJ I know and admire.
I'm going to try my best to sweet-talk TJ to set aside the principle of it all and come here to post (if for no other reason than to post once to extend his thanks).
What principle is that? Not fixing your mistakes? I understand a desire to not create drama, but it seems he's putting too much stock in one set of his values for the situation.
I hope you can convince him, because I'd rather see someone new come in and add to the community than evacuate at the first sign of trouble. If what you say is true then he can probably recover over time. Until then, you may miss him. I don't.
Also, any new poster has to accept that Suichiro will haze the newbies... and the vets too actually.
Thank you Manoa for the insight. I'm all for friends sticking up for each other, especially well spoken ones, and if you could add to him, I have no animosity, resentment or problems with him. I recognize that for my part, rushing for a reaction is sometimes not my greatest character trait. Coupled with the day he had, and truthfully the confusion here, I understand his reaction towards me.
My coloring the piece and trying to contact him, AND this thread whether it is a blatant call out or not, was merely to get him to reconsider the situation, and come back. This is my favorite section of the forums. We laugh a lot here, AND we share some great art... it would be a shame for him to lose out on that, merely because of one bad day.
I think it would go a long way to his "street cred" to come back, balls strong, or Suichiro hardened, and face up to us, we're not gonna bite. Well no harder than we are given... in the end like it was mentioned, we may disagree, but there's no conspiracy here or sides being chosen. The outspoken people in my favor humble me in their support, and it's not just because of the situation, it's because deep down, we are a family here... dysfunctional, virtual and emo, but still a family.
He's welcome to that, anyone is, the community enriches itself.
Thank you for your efforts, I hope he reconsiders.
As to the holding back to thank me, unusual but appreciated. I've learned to curb my impatience from this whole mess, I thank him for that. If or whenever he's ready to tell me what he thought of the pieces, I'm more than willing to wait for his reply.
Mahalo...
Fine fine , im not gonna keep chomping at the bit if LJ is fine with how things stand as its silly to hold too much annoyance if LJ isn't bugged by it .

P.S. In my opinion, that piece of TJ turned out absolutely magnificent. You did a wonderful job melding TJ the character with TJ the person. And the colors are quite striking.

OK now where is the rest of that pic?
Hot woman on dragonlady action ftw!
I'd give you a hug of support for the gesture you made, but I don't want to be accused of trying to siphon off some of that free gift art vibe of yours! (j/k)
