If +resistance IO bonuses were worth it...?

Except against Cimerorans and tower buffed Recluse.

Seriously though, despite the math I did, my tank is resist based and I carry two columns of purples and one of oranges, but that's because I've added defense to the tank. My very worst defense attribute is 23%, so a single medium purple puts me at the softcap to everything. And I do mean S/L/E/N/F/C/Psy/Melee/Ranged/AoE everything.

I find the purples do more for me in more situations.

But the math does prove that if you've only got one inspiration to use, the best one for you is the one that will push you closest to whatever cap you can reach.

Who ever uses only one inspiration at a time? To hell if I know.

I've got 95% DDR. Cimerorans don't phase me. I'd give you Recluse and his tower, but I've never encountered an STF where I was the one tanking Recluse while the others took out the towers.

Be well, people of CoH.

Fine. Nemesis and Devouring Earth Quartz.

Also: Nictus Essence autohit mire and other autohit attacks such as burn patches. And I think Earthquakes do unnresistable -def.

Back to the original point:

they're never going to make significant +Res. Because someone, somewhere, will find a way to make a Dark Armor or Invuln tank that's near-cap on Res AND Def.

"But how is that different than Granite?" you say? Well, Granite doesn't have a minion stun. Granite doesn't have a ridiculous self-heal*. And Granite gives up mobility, recharge, and damage.

*OK, I'm really sorta talking about Dark Armor here.

As far as medium and higher oranges? Yeah, my Dark/Energy tank loves em.

I often will stock up on orange if, for instance, I am starting a difficult TF and I know there's going to be a defense-based buffer on the team. Because once in a while I want to hit three cheap insps and get +60% Resistance.

I agree, it's rare.

I do prefer T3 oranges to T3 Purples on my Willpower Brute, 1 or 2 T3 oranges is usually enough to weather an extended fight against large groups of cims once the Brute's defense values have crashed (-70 def is fun).

But that's due to the Regen values of Willpower combined with the resistances.

In most other circumstances, I'd want purples.
