Question about Demon/Trick Arrow

My wife made a Demon/Dark and I was looking to not make a /Thermal or /Pain and was thinking is this combo would be any good for PvE?

I was thinking specifically for Oil Slick since it ignites with fire and glue Arrow will stick them there.

I also see a few Arrows that do -res that would stack with Demon attacks too.

/thoughts?

You can't really go wrong with any combo as a Mastermind. I don't have access to Demon Summoning, but Trick Arrow is a great, control-ish set. From what I understand, DS is at the top end of the Mastermind power spectrum, and the henchmen are sturdy enough and heal enough to cover your lack of a heal. They do use their narrow fire cone quite frequently, but you could still go with a magic, mutation or technology origin to be sure of ignition.

I think Trick Arrow works well on a Robots MM I have. It started slowy. Single target flash, web arrow are less than inspiring but useful. Glue arrow is where its at. Disruption, Oil Slick, and EM Pulse arrow are the heavy hitters.

Also note, for oil slick, the whip commands in the Demon Summoning set have fire components. Another good reason to take such a power in the early lean levels.

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

Try it, you'll like it. Assuming you don't get off on constantly buffing/healing everything in sight and rarely attacking.
Personally, I can't wait to combine flash/glue/oil/WHIP WHIP WHIP while my scrubs rampage in and rip things apart.

Note that mutation has a toxic damage power. Toxic doesn't light the oil slick.

I've started working on a DS/TA as well...my one single problem with the set has always been that the sets power is centered around a level 35 power (oil slick). I'm sure it'll be crazy once you have demons + oil slick...but getting there (which is true for TA with any MM set) can be a chore..at least that has been my experience.

Okay here is a build I threw together, wanted to get some feedback on it to see what I can do better. Obviously my goal for Demon/Trick Arrow was Ranged defense.

Note* I really want to use Oil Slick with the fire attacks since I believe this is key for my playstyle (moar damage!) however using EMP Arrow and Glue Arrow when Oil Slick is recharging.

So far the defense I have:

Ranged defense at 42.1%
S/L at 30.2%
Energy at 39.7%.

Any help to make this build better would be greatly appreciated

Was going for the +defense sets. I guess I could do the +dam/range HO trick here too to cap resistance and damage.

*edited orginial build to reflect change now this pet shows 58.9% damage resistance and 94% damage*

This build seemed a little tight I was forced to skip flash arrow, poison gas arrow, and acid arrow. I wanted the two whips I selected based on my comments in the OP.

Was there anything else I could do to make this better?

Chrome,

Your link to the build doesn't work. Could you try posting the data block, or using a different set of codes that posts the link correctly?

That is a freaky build.

I see one thing I don't like: you skipped acid arrow. I don't care if your pets and whips do that anyway, its too good to skip. That's just in my opinion. The ranged Defense is nice, but I'd personally try to get aid other and aid self somehow, so that I could just heal up the demons (and myself) between fights.

Aid other and Aid Self are in the build. (level 22 and 24) and I agree power boost + aid self/aid other is a lovely thing

Wasnt sure about Acid Arrow since the pets and whips do -res and Disruption arrow also does -res which is in the build and is autohit. Wasn't sure if Acid Arrow was needed since in Mids it shows that both Acid Arrow and Disruption Arrow do the same -res (15% resistance debuff). Unless I am reading it wrong. Let me know

Wow, I totally missed that. Its because I usually go for Doctored Wounds for the recharge, so the Harmonized Healing didn't even register.

Also, I'd want more slots in Aid Other before I put them in Aid Self. But that's just me.

As for Acid Arrow, getting it means you can stack multiple sources of -resist. Plus its got a small AOE effect so it can hit 2 or 3. Of course, you can just cycle your whip. Still, I'd never personally skip Acid Arrow.

Acid arrow has the added benefit of -def so after it hits those -res debuffs you and your demons are slinging around will hit easier and stack up quickly.

I guess thats something to add,.. but what to get rid of and still maintain the defensive numbers and aid self to do it is the issue I am facing. The build is rather tight.
