The Joys and Pain of Demon Summoning, I17 launch, and CoX
The whip justifies skipping/delaying certain powers.* It's just that good.
*Excluding the pets, of course. Be thankful they at least took the them.

Super Reflexes: the Golden Fox of power sets!
WARNING: I bold names.
Hey there...I was the insane Soldier, you know the one you loved so much(Op Ferg heh) :P. Anyways, I have to say that yes, Azure is spot on. That one team, minimun 3 DS at any time, was the most fun i have had in CoH to date. The DS's for the most part had plenty of support powers, and the -res on the attaks allowed us to blow through content at +3 the entire time. it was a blast, and it renewed my faith in the direction of CoX in general.
So hard to resist playing with DS... must wait til GR so I can avoid redside... urg...
Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be

The thing that drove me off playing MM for this long was that I just couldn't stand sitting back and playing buff/debuff bot.
With DS, my inner scranker gets a bit of play and makes this set just an absolute BUTTLOAD (not a wimpy metric buttload, a real, manly, in-your-face IMPERIAL BUTTLOAD) of fun to play.
The only reason I'm not well into my 20's right now is because I shut off XP to pick up a couple extra contacts (including unlockables) in PO and just restarted my XP gain again.
Once I left the zig, I kicked to +0x3 and ran with it up until I hit CoT (and had to roll back to x2 because they just tore me apart).
DS/ is capable of getting away with less buffs, one of few. The attacks cut into your blue bar a heck of a lot pre-stamina and SOs, but the -res is very tasty. Theres just so much to try and cram in.
Oh, and says you that MMs are buff/support characters! Get in line, fleshling, the robotic horde is at work here!
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Which was why I rolled DS/TA and it's great.
No one can nag me about support powers, I can shoot all kinds of fun (and usefull) things around and then I can JUMP IN AND CRACK GREEN FIERY WHIPS AROUND ME LIKE A DEMONIC MARQUIS DE SADE ON CRACK! Suffice it to say that I am well pleased so far.
Masterminds annoy everybody, sooner or later. Heck, Masterminds annoy themselves.

I said the MM toon THEMSELVES is a buff/support toon for it's own minions.
THAT is what I disliked.
Right off the bat I have to say that I haven't felt this way playing CoX since my early days back in '04 right after beta finished and the game was released. Those days contained an enduring partnership with a Emp Defender who was always wiling to duo with my crazy AR/Elec Blaster, the hallowed days of Regen toggle Instant Healing and the happy nights I trioed with a different emp Def and Dark/Dark Scrapper. Days that made me so happy to be playing CoH and have slowly drifted away over the years, only to be rediscovered with the launch of I17. New breath has been breathed into CoX and I am happy to have stuck with this game over the 6 years it has been live.
With that said, I must strongly congratulate the Devs on releasing fine content. The Black Market bug is a major downer, but the new story arcs and Quality of Life enhancements are welcome and refreshing. Of particular signifiance to me is the addition of Demon Summoning to the MM set and the focus of which I am writing this post. Since launch (and while I am auto-following my teammates to write this) I am 1 bubble away form 27. I gained 18 levels the first day in a few hour of playing, love something no sewer run could ever hope to accomplish. This was done not through powerleveling, but because seasoned (some) players came out to support the release of new content for a game they love.
Carnifax_NA prophesied that there would be a proliferation of DS MM's rushing to try out attacks and forgetting about what I consider their most important function... as support AT's. True to his word this happened. Lvl 10 Dark Miasma toons with 1 power can be forgiven to a degree, but late teens and early 20's... how can this be? I love him, but I was teaming with a DS/Pain MM who at 22 had only the first required pain heal. Yes, experiences like this have made me cringe, but by and large a powerset has been added that has made teaming not just cool, but a joy again. Ridiculous feats of survival have been accomplished not by 8-men MM teams, but a fortunate assembly of 4-5 MM's and a collection of corr, dom's and brutes, which have spawned some spontaneous friendships that may truly last a long time.
This game is fun again, it feels fun again, and most importantly, I now love to play Coh again. Thank you CoX staff and thank you CoH supporters who keep this game alive and around for us to enjoy.
