My cave map design is the one they first used for the Shadow Shard. The building maps are oddly sparse as well as the police station map I used for the third mission. The only one not affected is the final mission.

GAH! DAMN DAMN DAMN!
They've gone and got rid of the portable generator destructible objective; AGAIN!
Thats the ONE and only damn piece that makes any DAMN sense to have destroyed in a power station thats using the Cap Au Diable powerstation outdoor map! And they've got rid of it! Its hard enough to get my arc viewed at all, under all the utter **** thats in AE, and to have it keep breaking...

Y'know what, t'hell with it. Im just taking that objective out. Its more ****ing pain than its worth.
NOT amused with unannounced changes!

Right I forgot about that one, I had to fix that in my Tomorrownauts arc.

That said I replaced it with a tube, which ties in with all the "vacuum tube" references in the arc, so I think it's kind of better now (No I don't think generators ever actually used vacuum tubes, it makes sense in the context of the arc).

Isn't it great that there is a full list of changes to various things in the mission architect so that authors know that they should check their arcs . . . oh wait.

My point without the biting sarcasm: If something changes in the architect that will cause authors to have to check their arcs, IT SHOULD BE IN THE PATCH NOTES!!!

I think many others have said this multiple times BEFORE, so I'll just leave it at that.

I played through your arc and gave it a 5, Wrong Number - so that should cancel out one of the 3s you got
I've gotten a request to do the same with another one too that's been unfairly marked down because of a bug, so I'll be doing that one later today.

Just a quick question:

If I changed a custom group that featured in a published arc, would the group update within the arc?

Or are they bound within the arc itself, and immune to changes to the base files in my critters folder?

I had to update some custom mobs that used the "Metallic" texture (the Robotic Teen Phalanx), presumably due to the old Metallic being deprecated by I17's ultra mode.

I didn't notice any problem with custom factions that included recolored standard mobs, either mixed with custom mobs or not.

I didn't notice any problem with my one custom mob that used a shield (a Riot Cop with the riot shield).

I did notice that the portable generator destroyable object seemed to be missing; I was using that for a nuclear power plant in Attack of the 50 Foot Villain. Right now it just looks like some barrels; haven't decided what to replace it with, yet. I feel like a proper movie monster must destroy a nuclear power plant, though.

Based on my experience, I needed to edit the arc on the computer where I made the changes to the customs for the changes to impact a published arc. If I do not edit the arc, there seems to be no effect.

As a warning, if you edit an arc on a computer that does not have the latest customs, changes may be lost or wiped out.

I hope this helps.

Ok, I played through your one and gave it a 5, ArrowRose - does anyone else need a 5 to help correct any unfair bug-related mark downs?

Any chance someone from Paragon has read this thread and submitted bug reports to the devs? Or can you /bug AE problems yourselves? (I don't know, I haven't had the time to spend making an AE mission yet, so I am not sure what all is involved, though it looks like it could be fun).

You submit it like you'd submit any other sort of bug, this thread is to warn everyone else.

Same problem with both of my arcs. One of them still plays, but the other one has bigger issues I'll talk about later on. Geesh, what are they trying to do to us?

Great thread, BTW!

I'm dying here, folks! As many of you know, both of my arcs were just fine pre-I17. Now, the first arc (Consequences of War) is not accessible. At first I thought it was because of the aforementioned font problem. I corrected the font and tried to re-publish and got a message telling me there were too many ambush/boss/patrol/ destroy objects in a mission. Unfortunately, there is no orange error message directing me to the (new) problem.

I double checked every mission and the numbers work based on the parameters given for each map. Even so, I tweaked in several places, just in case. The frakkin' thing still won't re-publish and still isn't playable.

Any thought, ideas or sympathy would be welcome. Instead of making some cool changes I'd been waiting for this issue to make, I'm bug-checking withouut any luck.

Sorry to hear about this Dal.

I had an problem once that did show up in orange error test that drove me crazy. How I finally tracked it down was by doing this:

1) Edit the arc and save it to local as "test123" or something.

2) Exit the editor.

3) Bring up "test123" in editor.

4) Pick a mission and delete it then try to save as "test1234"

5) If that narrows it to a mission go back to the unedited "test123" and start one at a time deleting objectives, then try saving.

If this does not work another approach using "test123" is to delete all but one mission and try to save. If that works delete all but two, etc until you figure out the missions that are the issue. Then compare them and look for commonalities.

Hope that helps.

That helped me fix it, Wrong Number. It ended up being a borked CoV Sewer map. After trying several other CoV sewer maps with the same results, I simply swapped over to the identical CoH Sewer map and it published just fine. It amazes me how many little things a new issue can bork.

Now I can hopefully find time to make the new changes that I'd hoped to make from the start.
