I have a ATI Radeon HD4850 card and I have been running the driver HD 4800 series version 8.573.0.0 dated 1/13/09 with vista with no problems. Now after the i17 patch and right after the loading bar comes up, I get an error message referencing a atioglxx.dll error. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue.

Get the latest ATI card update?

I've tried putting the new display drivers in (i have the same card as you), and now i get insane, almost frozen lag, on the character selection screen, then the game crashes.

Make sure when you update drivers you uninstall the old ones and use a driver cleaner in safe mode before installing the new. Helps clear out any leftover files and such.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

Make sure you have upgraded Vista to Service Pack 2. And yes, update the drivers.

Also, make sure that you are NOT using the 10.2 or 10.3 drivers.

I'm running the 10.1 drivers, just as I did in Beta, and not having any issues.

I haven't upgraded to the 10.4's yet and won't until I see a post by Bill Z Bubba stating that he's running them with no issues.

Also, when after installing the new drivers using proper procedures, turn off the AMD External Events Utility service in Windows 7 or the ATI HotKey Poller in other versions of Windows. Even if you disabled it before, a new install will re-enable it and several people are having input delays due to that service running.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

Also try the game's safe mode (check box at the user agreement window).

I'm pretty sure Bill's made comments to that effect somewhere. Perhaps not very formally but whatever. If it's any consolation, I'M running 10.4 and other than the FSAA/AO issue that's existed since beta, I'm not having a bit of trouble with them.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm trying some of your ideas now.

FYI: We are seeing lots of crash reports with that driver version. Definitely update your drivers to either the 10.1 or 10.4 drivers.

Thanks for the info and details. I did go ahead and download the 10.4 driver and "tried" to install it. The install failed, so I decided to try and start the game. It loaded up just fine and I have absolutely no problems - interesting fix...

hey guys. im having similar issues and it may just be the card itself. im just not sure anymore. i fixed one dll crash but cant seem to get past this atioglxx one. ive followed amd instructions for updating, ive followed advice for overwriting just the atioglxx file, ive rearranged as much as i can rearrange which has done everything from throwing my display settings to a 4 bit to telling me my card just isnt compatiable and wont run any of the graphics, to simply saying it cant get past the file... i dont know anymore. could someone PLEASE help me. ive begged and pleaded on this board numerous times and never get any kind of help.

im running Windows XP Home, processor is an AMD Athlon XP 3200+, have 1280GB RAM, and using a Radeon HD2400 w/ 512MB onboard memory. yes, i should have a dual core processor. i dont. could that be cauing the problem? is the video card not up to snuff for the game? do i need more RAM? i was running a Radeon 9250 card with 128MB of onboard memory, but i seem to have fried that one which is why i upgraded to this lower level yet still higher ability card. my mobo has a GeForce 2 series chip embedded in it that i can always revert back to, but with that the game is suffers constant screen freeze, choppy images, lag, rubber banding and all the regular common run of the mill problems. id appreciate any and all assistance and advice i can get from you guys. im stuck playing(when i can bring myself to it) from my laptop which drives me nuts.
thanx

edit: ps. the latest update i attempted was from the AMD hotfix Catalyst 10.10 Hotfix for Windows XP Professional and Home Edition. this is the one that told me my card couldnt support any of the graphics for the game.
