what name does my Arsonist have today?
Nice demon names! Maybe "Lost Hope" could be "Despair"? That way they'd all be one word names.
Hope it's OK to make a suggestion. |
Thanks, was unsure about the prince's name and decided on something mildly poetic, but Despair would work well also.
I've noticed this too, but to be honest, I don't pay all that much attention to my arsonist's health. The tier one thugs are just fodder, and the arsonist is gonna die anyway (keeping him alive would require a dedicated Empath following him on most days, I swear), so I just make sure I resummon them when they're all dead. My Enforcers and Bruiser, however, do get my full attention and support.
I've noticed this happen very occasionally in the past (mostly on my Mercs - the medic would swap names with a regular soldier now and then), it's not a particularly recent phenomenon. But I have noticed it happening more often recently (though that may just be perception), mostly on my Thugs and Demons MMs.
Most recent occasion:
My Demons MM normally has Sarah the Gargoyle and Donna the Ember Demon.
During battle, Sarah died. I was a bit low on endurance, and figured at least I still have the support one, so I put off resummoning in favour of continuing to buff and heal. It was then I noticed that the remaining demon, Donna, had my customized colours for its flames. Quickly realised it also wasn't healing anything, wasn't providing the pbaoe shield, and had acquired a damage aura. It became clear that this Donna was actually the Gargoyle, and it was the Ember Demon that had died; at some point their names had swapped.
Okay, I'm not the only one with this problem, thank god.
Sheesh. I named my demons what I did for a reason - so I'd know who attacks with what/what they do at a glance.
This messes with my visual cues.
Currently playing:
The Domestic: Broom/WP
Shadowhex: Dark Control/Dark Affinity
Defenestration Lass: Grav/Kin

You can solve the problem with 2 macros.
One should be /macro Clear "clear_petnames"
For the other one you want to use the /petrename_name current_name new_name
The lucky thing with Demons is that each pet has their own name by default, so you can create a macro that will restore all of their names to their customized values. It's harder for others like Thugs or Merks, because two of your tier 1 pets have the exact same name.
It is entirely possible that the default names are a property of the pet itself, and thus not affected when they change position, but the custom names are maybe somehow tied to the position in the window rather than the pet itself?
The name switching definitely happens, and it is very obvious with demons since each demon is a different color...it becomes very easy to tell when the wrong name is on the wrong color demon. It's quite frustrating for me because I have given each demon a name which relates to their visual-aura (cold/fire/hellfire) and they just look stupid when they get mixed up.
For the sake of completeness, BEFORE entering mission selected demonling is named Scorn and is PURPLE Hellfire
AFTER entering mission selected demonling is named Scorn and is plain Fiery, who used to be named Jealousy. Eagle-eyed observers may note that the 2nd tier demons have also swapped names.
Hope it's OK to make a suggestion.
