Base Navigation Suggestion
Ideally, as a base designer, I would like to be able to label the map myself.
But the colour-coded idea is a nice middle-ground alternative that shouldn't (standard code rant aside) create too much headache for devs that the custom map label option would.
I like the signs. Fashion<Function but Fashion+Function=Win!

Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
Signs in general have been asked for for a while. (As well as bulletin boards.) If "custom wording" is too iffy (not wanting to have someone enter the base and see "if you don't know where it is, you're <censored><censored>" f'rinstance,) pre-made labels would - I'd think - be fine.
Color coding... only question I'd have on it ( as I generally like the idea, pre-generated or custom, either way) would be what happens if they re-enable base raiding. I'm not sure if we can have "friendly" vs "Enemy" maps, one with the coding, one without.
Personally, I'd really like to see the devs officially announce that they were giving up on ever having base raiding. The base building community seemed to really explode when the raid restrictions were removed, and I think it's pretty clear by now that most people don't want raids out of their base, so it's high time that potential excuse for not doing things was removed.

As far as base builders not wanting the restrictions? Inside the editor, put in a checkmark. "Raidable base." If that's on, you get stricter pathing and placement rules when they hash them out. No need to screw one community for the other.
I wouldn't say it's "pretty clear" what people do or don't want, as base raids have been off for a while. It'd be like saying people don't want recreational jaunts to the moon - who are you going to ask who's going to say "Oh, yeah, they're a lot of fun" when they don't exist?
It was also, as I recall, part of the whole "Get COV, this is one of the things you can do" push.

/signed to any of those. Getting lost in a base is a big problem for me...
I'm not so sure about the color coding for a base, but the navigational signs would be nice.
Along the same lines, please unlock zone Teleport navigation wall items along with zone beacons. So when you get a 'Steel canyon' base tp beacon, you also unlock:
Wall detail, tech/arcane:
[Steel canyon>] (name of zone, right arrow)
[<Steel canyon] (name of zone, left arrow)
[Steel canyon^] (name of zone, forward arrow)
[Steel canyon] (name of zone)
Tech would be metal, color of text changes by SG color ala banners
Arcane would be stone, color of text changes by SG color ala banners
A 'plain' option would use just SG primary/secondary color options, without metal/stone.
I wasn't sure if the bases forum would be better for this thread or not, so apologies if it seems better suited there.
In a recent thread, someone was complaining about trying to find teleporters in other SG bases. Now, far be it for anyone to demand a certain base flow, and Feng Shui isn't my forté. But when you think about it, navigating someone else's base, or being new to a SG base, can make finding your way difficult. And let's not forget those base leaders who change the base layout every week!!
So what can we do to alleviate this problem? I suggest two things:
Navigation Signs
This might be the fastest solution to create. Just make wall detail signs (with a few tech and arcane design options) with room names and arrows on them. So for example, you'd have a "Storage Room >" sign, and a "< Storage Room" sign. Maybe some signs with straight ahead arrows, but at least left and right.
Base designers could place these in entrance rooms and other key locations to help navigate SG members to the rooms they want to get to without having to pull their hair out.
Color Coded Maps with Keys
This could be a little more time consuming with coding (but what do I know), but would be less cluttering than placing signs all over the base. What if the map screen in an SG base color coded the rooms, with a key to the side explaining what color meant what type of room it was. SG designers wouldn't have to compromise their design ideas if signs broke their look and feel, but strangers to the base could open the map and know where the room was they were looking for.
For example, you open the map and see grey, blue, red, green, and orange rooms. On the side, you would see that grey rooms were just decorative rooms, but the red rooms were for teleporters, and the orange for storage, and so forth. People who had to deal with a constant base-changing-SG-leader would stop pondering mutinies as an option.
So, thoughts? Suggestions?
