80% defense?
depending on secondary and slotting, brutes could hit resist cap on (90%)
fire armor - can easily get 90% fire resist with good slotting
elec armor - can get to 90% energy resist with good slotting
stone - can get to 80+% resist in smash lethal with good slotting and tough
invulnerability - basically same block as stone for smash and lethal

No way, I was under the impression that the cap was 70 and no way to make them higher. So he was right.
Dang it.
Brute and Tanker resist caps are 90%, VEATs and HEATs are 85%, everything else is 75%.

Electric Armor Brutes can hit 90% to everything except for toxic and psi while in Power Surge... and do so with just SOs. Yes, Power Surge is skippable (and I don't have it on any of my Electric Armor characters) but if you know you can handle the crash - and don't mind having one in the first place - you can cap a lot of damage types. Personally, I just run Tough and pop lucks or Demonic if I'm in enough trouble that I'd need it.

And with good slotting and Tough a Stone Armor Brute - in Granite - can get around 88% S/L... one set bonus away from capping smashing (I don't recall any lethal resistance set bonuses, but iirc kinetic crash has sm resistance).
So yeah, getting 80% resistance isn't all that tricky. I think Dark Armor can get there to psi through stacking set bonuses, although why you'd bother I have no idea.

it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

First sorry meant Damage resist
I was today talking over builds with friends in game and a buddy mentioned they finally got their Brute over 80% damage resist, confused I spouted "Wait. No brute can not reach over 70 without inspirations". Of course this turned into a argument( friendly tho) about how to slot in a certain way to reach it which I said not according to the forums it is impossible. Question: is it possible to reach 80 or am I stubborn and missed it?
