SS better than other travel powers for Fire/Dark?
A stealth IO in sprint will give you basically the same effectiveness and allow you to use the travel power fo your choice. The downside is that stealth IOs are kinda expensive below level 50.
Adeon is right, a stealth proc and Shadowfall = full invis. I personally go SS with most of my characters because I'm a speed freak and Hasten is fantastic.
If Fly fits your concept better, go with Fly. Do try and fit in Hasten at least though, it really benefits a Fire/Dark for pumping out the AoEs and all the DM goodness faster.
The Melee Teaming Guide for Melee Mans
Suichiro's and Silas' awesome guides have inspired me to create a fire/dark corruptor. Is Super Speed going to be more helpful as a travel power than the others for this particular build thanks to the added stealth component? Conceptually, flight fits my character better, but I'm not sure I'm willing to sacrifice performance for concept. Thoughts?

Good Choice!!! It's DPS and the recharge io slotting can't be beat! My main corr is that build, and those dudes' guides really helped me a lot too. Myself I always stuck with flight because it's nice to stay above to get that perfect spot for your RoF/TP/fireball combo from a bird's eye view. Plus his only defense is manuvers, that Mu pool shield, and shadow fall, so staying above the crowd with hover helps a lot when you're running +1/x4 mobs.
Adding to the chorus, pick up Hasten if you can possibly fit it in, and if Flight fits your concept better go with it, sticking in a stealth IO if you find you really need the extra stealth (I've been doing just fine without it, personally).
Another advantage of fly is that the stealth proc is cheaper and easier to find than SJ or SS. I was able to find one for my lvl 30ish fire/storm in around 10 days and for a somewhat modest price(around 5 mil).
Just because you have shadow fall doesn't mean you have to be stealthy.
But why wouldn't you want to be fully stealthed? I think stealthy is especially important for the squishees. Ever been on a TF/SF with a kill the boss mish. I have been on many a TF/SF where all the non-squishees run through the mobs and straight to the boss. All the squishees attempt to run through the mobs to the boss and half of them die on the way there. Being only half stealthy is not always good enough to keep up.
Given how easy it is to get full stealth, especially with a stealth aura in your secondary, yes, you should have it.
Even if you never stealth missions, it'll allow you to take your time and perfectly line up your opening volley without getting shot in the face as well as generally reduce the amount of aggro you have. That's important for a squishy.
The Melee Teaming Guide for Melee Mans
On my signature Fire/Dark, I run teleport and a celerity stealth in my sprint. That allows me to stealth and recall teammates even when my Assemble the Team is down. It adds a lot of utility to an already robust build.
I rarely need the stealth for anything else, as you're an aggro hound with all the AoE, but it's nice to have in the pocket.
With all the different ways to get jump jets now, there's not much reason to avoid SS now. Just don't hedge yourself into it, because you want full invis. It's not worth it, when you can get stealth from IOs so easily.

In the end, you should always go with concept... you'll be happier that way.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I think I am going to go SS for now. The more I think about it, the more I want hasten, so I'm already in the pool anyway. I might reconsider later in my career, but for now, I think I'll go with SS. Thanks for all of the opinions!
I use my Fire/Dark as a tank.
To do so Super speed is VERY helpful. I can zip in drop Darkest night as I kite past and....IT DOES NOT SUPRESS SS OR STEALTH! I farm the wall most days pulling 3 or so groups and just melt them.
Now I took Ghost Widow as my patron to get the second pet as the Fortuna.
Take rain of fire, fireball early and slot them up quick! I always take all Dark and Fire powers until 20 - swap builds and rebuild with Stamina. I did not build completely a Suichiro Corr - I went slightly more with +damage and end recovery.
I would HIGHLY advise getting the +2 magnitude pets hold proc for Dark Servant - I routinely have him one hold bosses and even AV's when stacked with howling twilight.
My gameplay - if in a group with melee - I tell the brute to grab aggro and I will bring more to him. I drop tarpit and zip past the first group, paint darkest night on the 3rd group and slowly head back to the tarpit. I drop out of LOS (line of sight) until they hit the tar. I then use Fear and howling twilight to debuff the snot out of them. Rain of fire, fire ball and blaze on the boss.
I then drop darkest night zip forward and paint the next 2nd group running back to the brute drop tarpit and repeat. After a couple of groups everyone starts to get whats happening and it becomes a steamroller.
I have tanked Rom on my corr when the Fire tank died to the stun. I was able to both freeze Rom debuff him in the tar and seperate the Nictus (I took provoke). We were able to take him down while the tank for some reason hospitaled it.
I'm at 23 now and this guy really is an AE machine. What sliders are you all using at that point on solo missions? I'm using +6 (number of enemies) but -1 (difficulty). I can kill plenty fast, but I seem to take a beating during the pull. I did end up going fly/hover instead of SS/Hasten...would that help? Once I have them all back to a corner, I'm fine.
Also, is there a trick to pulling multiple groups at once? I can't seem to do this reliable. One group either wanders off or I get destroyed during the gathering. I guess SS might help with all of this?
Super speed and "paint" an Lt of boss with Darkest Night (I slot my Darkest Night with 2 Range) then run up near the next group pause a second for those behind to catch up some - then zip past the next group and hide around a corner and drop tarpit.
Soon as they are on the tar - Rain of Fire, Fireball and firebreath. Blaze the boss/Lt and its over.
I run +2 x 8 solo.
I'd go for Super Speed with Combat Jumping with /Dark, but I don't think that picking Flight is undermining a Fire/Dark at all. (Although adding a stealth proc to SF is, as people have said, so easy it's silly not to.)
However, I strongly advocate that a Fire/Dark go for Mace Mastery: Web Envelope and Scorpion Shield. The former gives you an AoE immob, to hold the mob before pummeling it with fire, and the latter makes the S/L softcap a realistic option.
An AoE hold?
To partially quote a famous person - They should be running now......
Seriously with Darkest night to gather them, Tarpit to slow them, Howling Twilight to stun them, Fear to make them tremble in terror of their impending DOOM!, Rain of Fire/Fireball/fire breath to kill them. Let's also throw in my Dark servant to heal me and with a +2 mag hold freeze them and a Fortuna as a pet to shred whatever is left.............
Why would I pause to immobilize them?
My only enemy is the Lag Cannon.
Thanks for the advice, guys. I think I am going to go SS for now. The more I think about it, the more I want hasten, so I'm already in the pool anyway. I might reconsider later in my career, but for now, I think I'll go with SS. Thanks for all of the opinions!
