Timing Out While Zoning

On the test server I often have extremely long loading times, and frequently time out back to sign in page. Sure I have an older computer, but I can run regular servers ok. Virus checkers and the like report no problems.

Running xp service pack 3
Nvidia 7600 GS vid card

Any help would be appreciated as this is a game killer.

I ran CoH Helper and this is what it reports

Only 2GB RAM and only 13% free hard drive space. Time for some spring cleaning. Get rid of some programs and stuff you don't use or need and/or transfer it to another drive. Then run a Defrag on it and try again. If you are trying to run Ultra mode, turn down some settings and see if that works (I believe CoH_Helper only shows preferences set for Live, not Test). If you can add more RAM and/or upgrade your video card, that wouldn't a bad idea either in the longrun.

You should monitor the size of your swap file. I assume you'll find that it grows considerably while playing the game. Defrag and drive cleaning will help a bit, but don't expect wonders.

The problem is that the game needs more and more memory over time because it tends to keep all the texture data and other game information. This means that the longer you play and the more players are around the more memory will be used. And your RAM isn't enough to hold all that data so some of it is stored in the windows swap file. This data is still used by the game so the read/write times of your HDD are now the limiting factor. Defrag and drive cleaning might help a bit to improve the read/write times but in the end you are limited by the hardware itself.

No go on defragging and moving files. Still time out and load times if I don't yime out are insanely long and this running in performance mode....

Looks like this computer is not worthy of the new issue, and will likely have to cancel my subscription after 6 years....

Well I would say a 7600GS and ultra mode aren't really made for each other, not to mention an original Athlon CPU.

2GB of memory shouldn't be a problem unless you have a ton of stuff running in the background. Perhaps a HijackThis report might help us some.

A defrag utility like Defraggler can defrag a single folder (like your CoHTest directory) after a patch, like today's.

Dev's have said that level load times are client dependent. If we have a better idea what else is running as well as making sure the pigg files aren't in a million little pieces it'll give us a place to start.
