Updater not connecting but only once I've played and quit once already
everytime there is a new issue coming out you will have a download after you log out to desk top as long as you don't hit exit before the counter counts down. seeing as how you have been around for almost 2 yrs, you should have experienced this before.
as for your first problem, try verifying files and also do a disc clean up and defrag.
Another possible source of the problem may be an invalid DNS entry in the cache. The first time you connect, it is asking your DNS source to resolve it. Subsequent connection attempts are likely looking in the DNS cache.
Click the start button, type in "command" without the quotes, right-click it and select Run As Administrator. When the command prompt pops up type "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes and hit enter. Make sure you put the space between ipconfig and /flushdns.
Of course, UAC may throw up a few prompts in the middle of this, just click Yes on them.
As for the updater coming up after you quit, yes, that's the pre-download for I17 running. Happens shortly before most updates are rolled out to get the biggest parts of the download out of the way. And it will do this even if you exit during the countdown. I normally select the Quit to Desktop option and click the Exit button to get me out faster, the updater pops back up and starts the pre-download.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Switch on my laptop and start up city of heroes updater, everything is fine. But as soon as I quit either the updater or the actual game and then decide to open the updater again it won't connect. I have to restart my laptop and then the coh updater will connect, but any subsequent attempts will fail and have to restart my laptop and so it goes on.

My regular desktop shortcut for the game has the target as:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"
I also have a second shortcut to BYPASS the updater. It has:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project coh
Note the two spaces outside the quotes; one before -project and one before coh. This skips the updater and launches the game directly. Just keep in mind that, any time there is a patch to download, you MUST go through the updater. I use the bypass shortcut after the game crashes and it insists on wasting my time verifying files.
Also when I quit the game the updater automatically pops up again. |

Also when I quit the game the updater automatically pops up again. Occasionally it seems to be attempting to download the entire game (either that or an absolutely enormous update).
Hasn't happened before, I'm tempted to assume that it only started happening after the recent update.
Yes I have vista but like I said, was fine before.
Any ideas? Would be nice to not have to restart my laptop every time I want to play coh for a second time.
