It's been Ages...

.. Ages since I posted anything here...

So I thought I'd sort of "re-introduce" myself.

I do screenshot manipulations. Everything I do involved screen captures from a game (in this case CoH) and then extensive retouching in photoshop. Some handpainting, some creative layering and mask effects, color adjustments, judicious use of the smudge and liquify tool, and limited filter effects (mostly careful blurring). I do not use a renderer or any 3d modeling software, nor do I try to paint a completely new digital painting.

What I aim for is something you can easily recognize as 'City of' graphics and textures, realized as only an artist with a few hours and photoshop airbrush can bring to life - just like all those supermodels you see in Elle and Maxium :P. Real life with an airbrush .

Anyway...

My latest creation:

Diana of Olympus:

Chosen by the Goddess Athena to be Her Avatar on Earth, Diana is a protector of "New Athens", the heart of Western Civilization in the world - Paragon City.

Tools used: Photoshop CS4, Wacom pad, City of Heroes, and three cans of Dr. Pepper.

About four hours of work.

Thanks guys :-)

I like to think of myself as more of a photographer for games than an 'artist' (though I consider photographers artists, you don't often think of artists as photographers, especially for game/comic art). I spend a lot of time framing shots, taking dozens of screen captures until my angle and lighting are right. Then like any modern fashion or magazine photographer, I spend many hours in photoshop airbrushing out blemishes, correcting lighting and color balancing, outright handpainting details and highlights that don't exist in the original shot, etc.

So I guess I am a "Screenshot photographer".
