A New Type of Drop

With the number of available missions per character increasing, I pondered an idea. What if we could get missions from enemies we street sweep? Like a Recipe or Salvage Drop, you see a reward announcement that says "Hideout Located!" or something similar, and bam, your mission list has a hideout in the zone for you to clean out.

They wouldn't have to be arcs, nor would they have to be any different from the Police Band/Newspaper. They could be employed as a means for your character to take investigations into his own hands, rather than taking cues from the gaggle of contacts throughout the cities.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind being able to find cells of the Malta Group and Nemesis on Heroside. I also wouldn't mind being able to find Nemesis cells in the Isles, too.

I like it.
I would assume that if you were at the current limit for number of open missions that it would simply not drop for you, like if your salvage is full, for example.
And maybe it should be droppable seperate from the current one per three days, as there will be some folks who would want to opt out for whatever reason.

Really, it doesn't sound much different than the current Radio/Newspaper missions, and I don't see why they would have to be.

Out of curiousity, would you want to tie anything to having cleared out multiple hideouts? Would you want some to be "Defeat All", some "Defeat Boss and Guards", some "Rescue Victim", etc.?

Maybe have a pop-up menu to prevent getting a mission without intending to. something like,

"You found this item checklist on a member of the freakshow. You heard about the freakshow robbing various electronic stores and these items fit the bill. Perhaps you should look into this?"

As for mission space, maybe have a separate slot for these types of missions that only has room for one. Have the standard mission-drop rule apply.

I whole-heartedly agree to this idea. It would actually give an incentive to street-sweeping. It's always strange seeing so much crime and nobody caring to stop it.

It would be nice to help those poor people in Atlas and Galaxy even though they con grey to most higher level heroes. It's not very heroic to skip the plight of others because there's nothing beneficial for them.
