Somewhat Clueless Pistols / Dark Build
hi, It looks a sound build but to me your underusing Howling Twilight, which is one of the best powers in dark.
HT can almost stop most enemies in their tracks and gives you to time to get the upper hand. It also makes a great opener and is a battle winner when things are going bad for a team-the rez power is also great but a secondary bonus in my view.
If you can get decent recharge it can be ready for almost every mob, which is realistic seeing as you are picking up haste.
Powers:
Your power selection is 90% fab, and 10% odd. IIRC, I think Pistols is your highest ST DPA attack, so skipping it is an odd choice.
I also wouldn't go to the effort of having both Swap Ammo and Suppressive Fire to get the Hold, and then skip out on Pet Gaze. PG is a nice ST hold, and with SA+SF, you could be holding most AVs.
I'm not a huge of Power Sink, esp. without any real Melee Def. I suppose you might be using it around HoB, but entering/staying in Melee is an unnecessary risk for this build.
Personally, I'd opt for Mace Mastery over Mu, claim the Scorp Shield and aim for the SL softcap. You can also grab Web Envelope (AoE immob), or Focused Accuracy (never miss) or Web Cocoon (a third ST hold). WebE and WebC both cause redraw though.
Slotting:
You're breaking the Rule of Five on your 9% Accuracy bonuses. It's not that unusual to hit that one, but it's worth noting.
You've built for... I don't know. Some Ranged Def, some other kinds of Def, but nothing coherent.
You've ignored Shadow Fall's Def, which is a shame. If you take the Def IO from CJ and put a Def/End in Shadow Fall, you get better Def and save yourself some Endurance.
In order for the Numina to trigger, you'll have to use TG every 120 seconds. The Numina would be better in Health, where it will auto trigger.
The bonuses from 6 Lockdowns would be better than 4 LDs and 2 BGs. Alternatively, slot 4 BGs for a great Recharge bonus.
Howling Twilight should have its Recharge in yellow or red ED. If you want to ignore the full effect of the stun, that's fine, but don't ignore the massive Regen debuff.
Thanks for the replies guys.
I made some edits to the build. This version drops Mu Mastery for Mace Mastery. I'm not sure how it will work out but I'm willing to try it. Getting into melee-ish range was never really a problem; this character has to get pretty close anyway in order to nuke and use the cone, and Executioner's Shot has pretty low range. But an AoE Immob sounds interesting, especially to a Controller addict like me.
I ended up dropping Suppressive Fire altogether. It has been replaced with Petrifying Gaze. I know about stacking mezzes, but I don't want to burn a power pick and 4 enhancement slots for it since I don't solo enough to make it meaningful. Thanks for pointing out the poor slotting in the last build. I should be able to slot holds in my sleep by now, but the new version of Mids I find hard to read the set values.
In the move from Mu to Mace I've ended up in a +Defense armor instead of a +Resistance one. This increased S/L defense to around where a Fearsome Stare will floor same-level enemies. I'm not sure this is the way to go yet; the Resistance armor combined with my -Damage Chemical rounds was pretty resilient. I'm going to try out the +Defense armor and see how that works out as well.
The power I'm least sure about keeping is Pistols. The DPA may be better than the other blasts, but it has no secondary component to stack, which is why I skipped it the first time. I haven't tried to figure out if the other attacks + Incid ammo is higher DPA tthan Pistols without. Might as well try it and spec out if it doesn't work, though.
Total recharge is now around +83%. The price of the build has increased considerably. The LotG I usually obtain by running Task Forces. The two purples and the Hami-o are more lifetime goals than what's actually going to get slotted.

What exactly are looking to do with your build?
For my runs with Dark Miasma, I like to focus on Defense 1st, Recharge 2nd.
However, as I've stated in other threads. I also find little use for some powers later on, once IOed out.
Dark Servant, for instance, I just don't notice once I hit the high end, once IOs are in place.
Fearsome Stare, I could lose and be safe myself, but I find it's fear effect good for keeping the team as a whole safe.
As for slotting of Fearsome Stare, pick a set which has the best IO set bonuses for your build, and use it. The Fear duration doesn't make to much of a difference, but with Darkest Night, I don't find the added -tohit all that needed, but of course it helps.
BrandX Future Staff Fighter
The BrandX Collection
Personally, I like the cone Fear, its an amazing to hit debuff, if slotted for that. Coupled with Darkest Night, you can cripple an entire groups To Hit to nothing, while you pew pew with your group.
I'm in class, or i'd post my build for DP / Dark
As for Fluffy, I love fluffy.
WOO! DP/DARK POWAH!
I... admittedly am also an idiot when it comes to slotting. But I would like to recommend changing the slotting for Howling Twilight. Not only is it one of the best debuffs in the game, (Seriously, use it all the time. Even if no one is dead. DO IT.) but it's also auto-hit. That accuracy is just sort of sitting there... not doing anything. You aren't even getting a set bonus that I can see.
If I were you, I'd focus more on slotting for Stun and Recharge. I'm not familiar with what sets would be best for this (Aside from Absolute Amazement, which is THE SET and also THE EXPENSIVE SET), though basic IOs would work pretty well if you're on a budget and don't want to devote any extra slots to it.
Stupefys if you can't afford it, Absolute Amazements if you can.
Frankenslotting isn't really necessary, since ^ what he said, what's important is the stun and recharge.
The Melee Teaming Guide for Melee Mans
Hi folks,
I'm new to Corruptors. I've done Defenders before (mostly Force Field) but am mostly a Controller player.
My signature character, Oedipus Tex, has been rerolled into a newly lvl 48 Pistols/Dark Corruptor. I'm thinking about IOing him, but am not sure what to shoot for. My gut feeling is he should be built with this priority: 1) powers, 2) recharge, 3) defense.
A possible build is pasted below. Any comments would be very helpful. This character is nearly 100% used on teams, but I do solo a little when a team's not available. The most controversial power in this build is probably Hover; I selected it because it can take the Luck of the Gambler +Recharge IO, and it seems to increase my survival rate when doing Hail of Bullets. Plus, a mid-air Hail of Bullets looks amazing.
Thank you for any help you might give.
