If it could, I think we would have heard about it. I've seen a youtube of WoW on a netbook and it looked like ten kinds of baked [rump].

They may be more powerful now, but even my system, if I slide the graphics to the left all the way, usually when stuck in a rikti invation on the hill, it looks horrible.

Off Topic:
Does anyone's system not barf at the tight combat on the hill in Talos during a Rikti invasion?

Looking at the Specs of the mini 210... I'd really doubt if it's up to the task of running CoH. The GMA 3150 is basically only able to run older games well (we're talking Quake 3 from 1999 here)

I have one netbook which I HAVE run CoH on. I had to turn all the graphics down and it was STILL as slow and laggy as hell, but it WORKED. This is the netbook.

More details about that particular netbook can be found here.

Yeah, I think my post should be amended slightly. CoH should start up on your netbook, but you're not going to want to be playing it that way primarily.

To put it into perspective, I use a laptop with a Radeon Mobility X1600 which is considered, these days to be a class 3 level video card ( class 1 being the best). I have to have the settings so they're middle of the road and it's still pretty laggy (not willing to sacrifice the eyecandy any more than I already have).

The GMA 3150 is in class 5 territory, two steps below where I'm at.

I had just bought the HP mini yesterday and I've read over and over how COH was playable on it... I got through everything, but as soon as I enter Paragon City that's when things got ugly... I was initially thinking of getting an Acer Aspire One, but opted out at the last second and got the HP mini. I got my free 14 day trial of COH yesterday as well and really wanna play it, like... i always just get a taste of this game and then it's gone. you know how tempting that is? lol, but I've also seen the Compaq Presario cq61-410ous for the same price as the mini but they were out of stock at the store I went to, I should have just traveled across town to go to the other one to check. But I just may return this one and go for that to test it out. Thanks again guys! I really appreciate it.

I don't usually recommend Alienware because with them you were pretty much paying for the name, since Dell purchased them, that isn't so much the case anymore. They're right on par price wise with IBuyPower and CyberpowerPC now. If you're looking for the size of a netbook, with the performance that allows you to play real games. Alienware just put out the M11x which will play most current games on high around 30fps, so CoH wouldn't be an issue for it to play. It rings in at just under $800 for the base model.

I know that's a bit more than a netbook, but It does give you significantly more power and storage for what you're buying.

The Compaq Presario cq61-410ous should work pretty well (game will be playable at mid level graphic settings.

Any other Netbook class computer (Unless you find one with an Nvidia ION) is probably going to land you in the same boat as far as performance goes. They're just not quite powerful enough to run 3d games.

thanks for your info guys, 12 hours later I've narrowed it down to 3.

Compaq Presario CQ1-410OUS

Gateway NV5388U

HP Pavilion dm3-1130us

now it's just weighing the pros and cons... Why can't things be simpler???

I would probably remove the HP from your consideration. The Radeon Mobility HD3200 is fairly lackluster.

I would be surprised if anyone could get a stock netbook to handle CoH, but that does inspire what I think would be an interestering challenge for modders: using the chassis of either a netbook or older computer system in general (like a Commodore 64 for example) to build a system that could take the demands of CoH.

The HP Mini 311 is the netbook you want if you do not want a laptop. I have it and COH plays fine on it. I have it with 2GB of DDR3 memory and Windows 7. You can upgrade to 3GB DDR3 (1 GB permanently on motherboard, but there is a slot for a 1 or 2 GB memory stick).

Out of curiosity, what does the HP Mini 311 cost? It makes me chuckle that some of the higher end netbooks cost as much as a good mid-range laptop making me wonder why one would shell out that kind of dough for a netbook. Anything more than $350 (USD) for a netbook is a waste in my opinion.

the hp mini 311 is $500 us dollars. which the gateway nv5388u is the same and has 4gb ddr2 memory and 500gb hard drive which is like double that to the mini 311, which shares the numbers of a certain band. I'll have to research that one some more. I love the portability of these things.

I stumbled upon the gateway ec1433u which i've read and watched people call it a laptop, notebook, and netbook... nobody knew exactly what it was, but it is between a netbook and a laptop I would say... Gonna research it some more but It is quite appealing to me.
