Shadow Maul
Without being able to slot accuracy or damage, Sands of Mu becomes more and more useless as time goes on.
That said, I kept Shadow Maul in my build for a few reasons:
~ If you are good at lining it up hitting 2-4 is better DPS than anything else you have from DM.
~ With the lack of AoE DM needs all the multi-target help it can get.
~ It made a good mule for IO bonuses.
~ It's a good jousting power in PvP.
~ I need something to do while Shield Charge recycles.

So, you like Sands of Mu? How much more would you like it if you could enhance its damage, accuracy, endurance and recharge? You want Shadow Maul.

I still want to take Flurry with one of my DMs and chain all 3 together.
Absolute crap DPS, but it'll be funny as hell to punch something in the face 24 times in a row.

It's also a gift for those wanting to reach the debt cap as quickly as possible.
Be well, people of CoH.

What is the recharge on Sands of Mu?
I read on paragonwiki.com that recharge buffs affect this power...is this true?

How useful is Shadow Maul if you have the Sands of Mu bonus power?

My DM/SR used Sands of Mu in order to delay actually taking Shadow Maul, and pick up more of my defenses. But as soon as I picked up Shadow Maul (12th iirc), Sands came off the bar and hasn't been used since. As far as chaining them, I guess you could, but the activation on both is terrible, so unless you are surrounded by a horde of villains and know that you will be smacking 3+ mobs with each, I don't see any reason to use em both.
Because, I believe (although not 100% certain) that Sands uses more endurance than Shadow Maul.
I know for certain it recharges slower than Shadow Maul.

I still have Sands of Mu on my bar on pretty much every toon, including a couple Dark Melee. I use it if I've got a crowd in front of me. But once I start cranking up the difficulty, it turns into "Sands of Miss" since it's hard to hit uplevel enemies with it. Situationally useful, though.

And yes, only I could have that kind of crazy karma.
I find that Sands works just fine until I hit the late 20's, and by that time it's not too long of a wait until I pick up MG and finish out my end-game attack chain (you know the one) and so I did end up skipping SM for that reason on my newest DM scrap.
If you see Braglor, don't tell him I skipped it.

It's worth noting that you can hit high-level targets with vet powers potentially well if your build happens to include an unusual amount of global accuracy and/or toHit buffs. I use SoM relatively often on my Defenders, for example, who usually have around 30% global Acc and Defender-level Tactics.
But if they have a lot of defense or are +4 or something, it's still not very good at hitting.

I don't play Dark at all but Sands is very usefull leveling up. But when I get high enough levels to get an attack chain going it pretty much sits un-used. I do occationally use it on my Fire/SD and would probably keep it on my SD/SS... no re-draw is a plus...
SM is a nice filler for a decent price purple set plus you can put a Furry of the glad proc in it which gives a nice over all dps boost when you are having a go with bosses and AVs
I have SM and SoM on all 4 of my dark mele toons.
The DM/SD & DM/SR don't use it so much as they both run the mng -> smith -> SL -> smite attack chain, but some times the mobs just ine up right and you can let rip with it.
Oh and it's a good set mule for armageddon if you have the cash.
Shadow maul is the BOMB-DiDDLEY!!!! Slooted properly it makes DM VERY powerful!! (One may say buzzsaw like). W00T!!!
Shadow maul and buzz-saw? Does not compute.

I have mine set up like that. It's a great skill base (after the 5' to 7' change), but is incredibly powerful with those two procs. I believe that 3/4ths of the damage from SM benefits from the -resist proc when it fires, so the proc isn't just adding to future damage in this skill.

If so, non-billionaires like myself would be out of luck.
Would you reccommend any particular procs for Shadow Maul (other than that one)

I have 5xArmageddon and 1xscirocco's acc/dmg/end on one toon. On the other I have 6xoblit
Not the cheap stuff I know. A couple of SG peeps have it with 3xeradication, 2 scirocco's and 1 oblit using the tripple and quads from those sets.
