Hey guys,

Im new to the game just bought the architect edition on steam. Made a villian in the defiant server and started playing.
I must say that its a fun and cool game and im really enjoying it. But its so damn quiet its like im playing a single player.

So what im planning to do right now is just to enjoy the free month of playing as much as I can. Because the monthly fee is as high as the game itself im feeling like im buying the game again when my free month expires (maybe its because im not used to monthly fees).

But what im asking from you guys is what makes this game worth its monthly fee? I really hope you guys can convince me because I really want to like it.

Have you added some of the global channels to your chat tab? "Defiant Events" is pretty much subscribed to by most players on the server and is a good place to start to find some teams.

Right click on your chat tab and select "join channel", then type "Defiant Events" in the promt box.

Right click on your chat tab and select "edit tab", then add whichever channels you wan tto see there.

Should help you find where the teaming is

Brushing twice a day keeps the Strep.mutans at bay!
If you play on Defiant Server send a tell @Electro Kitty to join The Wonder League SG

In short the players.

But to get the best out of the game do as ElectroKitty has said and join Defiant Events.

Next which is a bit harder join a VG. Check out the busy ones by looking at the thread at the top of this page. The last number tells you which SGs/VGs are busy the higher the number the more they have done. Blue writing Heroes red Villains.

Ask in game if you see a member of a top group.

Happy to be on Defiant.

Following on what has already been said.
Fundamental to the enjoyment of this game is getting aligned to an active Super Group with regular events. Outside of this you are reliant of hunting a group down by sending tells to various players, or using chat channels like Defiant Events (personally find it easier to get a Task Force on this than a team).
City of Heroes / villains is a great game, and many players you'll find have been playing it for years. There are regular updates to the game, so this should help retain your interest too.
Send me a tell if you're struggling as we run regular stuff both evil and good side (in fact do a themed vill night tonight).

If your going to leave please try not to take new players with you D: .

To answer one of your questions Chrisp, is that this game has a lot of instances. That is, why you dont see a lot of people is because they are on teams and in a mission. So, don't worry if you dont see them, the games not a ghost town.

3)Yes, but your negativity isn't helping.

4)Then don't buy GR. It isn't mandatory. Very nice way to show your level of maturity, good day.

How come you can say such bad things about a game you've been into barely a month or two? You haven't tasted almost anything of the content of this game, missions, contacts, maps, task forces! Not everything consists in locking yourself into AE and lvling up from 1 to 50 in just a matter of hours or days. You had bad experiences with some players, I take it, just queue with the rest of us that sometimes have clashed with other people, it's normal in a big community, but luckily that minority left the game long ago and now the community is friendlier than ever, and even being shrinking in numbers lots of tfs, sfs, raids, and so are being arranged weekly.

What makes this game worth it's monthly fee...

The people you team with.
The challenges you overcome.
The mutliple toons you create and level up and love.
The excitement of thinking up a new toon you want to create.

Your first villain/hero, and all the new story arc's.
Your first VEAT/Kheld, because you really really wanted one.
Having to ask for help because you can't find somewhere in Striga even though you have a 30 month vet badge.
Rolling your merits for a recipe with your fingers crossed every time for a good one.

Coupled with all that the fact that the monthly fee, yep thats an entire months entertainment, would not buy you one single shot of whisky in Norway.

You do however have to put up with a sincerely shockingly poor level of customer service and communication, offset by a superb team of dev's. (I guess we can't have it all)

The value you get for your entertainment. I have spent many hours every week for over five years playing this game because I enjoy it and the other people who play it. If you divide the amount you pay by the number of hours you play, you won't find anything that gives you as much entertainment value for the money.

A lot of what has been said on here already.

Definitely get yourself into an active SG/VG and keep an eye on Defiant Events.

Make sure your 'team status' is set to your mood, it makes it easier for people to identify potential team mates when doing searches - and it also helps if you have a bit of a description in your search comments, eg: Claws/Invul scrapper - always lft.

If you aren't being invited to a team, try and start one up! Advertise on Defiant Events what it is you want to do and see if there are any takers. Do a search and see if anyone else is looking for a team (lft).

The people in this game are what make it so great and give the value for money. Even more so when you get to meet some of the people at player meets / events and can then place faces to hero / villain names.
