Loggin in the SG base
Because bases are just like instanced missions. We can't log out in those either.

Guide to Base Teleporters
If you log in the base though, then you'll still get credit for the day job. But I've noticed that if you're in the base when it starts gettin edited or somethin buy the leader then you can be kicked out too...just cuz if a room gets deleted that you're in then you've gotta lil bit of a problem...

If you enter the base through the normal portal, thats what happens because the day job is technically around the portal, not actually in the base.

I believe the way day jobs work is wherever you spawn when you log back in, it just takes the time since your last logout and applies it to whatever day job is there for the location you spawn in.
If you log out in an instance like a mission or a base, you spawn at whatever point you entered the instance at.
So if you use the base teleporter from someplace, like the market, or the university, or the middle of the oceans, you log back in on the spot that you used the teleporter (since that is where you entered the base instance) and whatever day job is at that spot is the one you get credit for.
Example: You use your base teleporter from inside a university. You log out while in your base. When you log back in, you spawn in the university
and get day job credit applied to the university day job, not for the base day job.

I had a little used character logged out by the base portal in Talos. I logged back into it after 21 days in order to move to a new spot, and not only didn't get the badge, the character had no credit for all that time. It turns out I logged back into that character just a day or two after they had moved the portal.

I was caught a couple of times using base TPer and thinking it would give me dayjob credit. Slightly annoying.
IIRC as well, there is no dayjob icon in powers while in base.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):

As others said, our bases are instanced zones. When no one is the the base, it "despawns", just like our missions do when we log out. (There may be some safety band where the base persists a little while in case someone else enters the base right after someone else exits.)
So, I'm in Atlas and I take the base portal to my SG base. I log out. When I log back in, it logs me into Atlas.
Why can't we log into our SG bases? |
Note that, just like normal missions, we don't auto time-out while standing in our bases.
When you log out, the base "despawns" and your character is left wherever they entered the base from (just like how you're left standing at the mission door if you log out in a mission).

On a related note, I only recently discovered that a character with no supergroup membership and no means to access a base can still earn the day job badge simply by logging out next to a base portal. I had previously assumed you needed to actually enter a base before logging to get credit, but not so.

In that case maybe they should have Supergroup Groupie as a Day Job.
