A little advice please.
Write down the one that was working so you don't forget it. Find another one. When that dries up or goes upside down, remember it too and check the one(s) you used before, if they suck, find another.
I've had good luck with triples and damage/recharges. You can do resistance but for little gains.
Always best to work at the highest level of the IO. Or so it seems to me.
So I had never played the market untill last week, when I stumbled on a tasty IO that wasnt being worked by anyone else(at least I think). So I bought up a ten stack and went to work. Turned all those, plus a couple more stacks for a hefty profit.
Trouble is now is that it seems as though the market has dried up on this particular IO. They were selling reliably in the 15-20 million range, and now are only selling for 2-3 million. So my question is,should I continue on as normal since its only in the past 18 hours this has happened? Or should I move on to something else? I have seven crafted and ten recipes Im sitting on at the moment. Any help would be appreciated. |
This is where having a Supergroup [of people you trust] helps, so you can offload the crafted ones into longterm storage and go to work on something else.
Also, Monday-Wednesday are traditionally slow/weak days so you might want to leave a couple up for sale.
One important question: How many crafteds are for sale? And how many bids?
The "Bids" side doesn't tell you as much, because one person can put up a hundred bids for crafted items pretty easily, but if there are 50 for sale and 3 bids... that niche has collapsed and it may come back later, or not. If there are 10 for sale and 3 bids, it might come back because there's not much cushion. 10 for sale, 300 bids: It'll be back. Begging.

At times I've had a good niche seemingly collapse, but it ended up being a temporary supply spike (someone cleaning out base storage, or whatever). This is where protective bids come in handy- if you're selling something for, say, 7 million you don't want a lowball bid to sneak through and put ideas in your customers heads ("hey, someone got this for 500k! I ain't paying 7 mil!"). When I was crafting to sell I'd throw up a handful of protective bids at some fraction of my listing price- in this case, say, 1.5 million. I'd hit some winners too, then re-list them at my price point and usually sell them.
The main thing to consider here is turnover.
Selling a couple of IOs a day is a lot different than selling one a week- let the strength of demand dictate whether you try and wait it out or move on to greener pastures.
If the IO you're selling is perceived as "good" by the community and people are consistently paying your price, waiting out the spike is feasible. If the IO has less wide appeal, even a slight increase in supply could kill it.

What? You know it's only a matter of time before someone comes in here and posts like that and actually believes it.

Serioulsy most of the advise here is sage advise. There were many times when I thought my niche(s) failed but some were temporay others not.
Watch the market and see how the trends move, as was mentioned above the early part of the week is the slowest.
