Keybinds power activation text

i've really tried to find some easy info about this for a couple of days but it's so cryptic out there... What I want to do is when I hit number 1 on my keyboard which activates the first power in my powerslot, my character will say something at the same time as he activates the attack. I want the attack and the say text to be bind to the same key on the keyboard.

Is this possible?

Best Regards

Yes. /bind KeyName "L <message text>$$powexec_name PowerName"

Will cause a messgae in local when the named key is pressed and activate the named power.

I cannot recal the command for activating a power by slot number and iPhones do not quite lend themselves to quick searches. For You, KeyName would just be 1, unless you want that bound to numpad 1, which is Num1 IIRC

Btw will this keep spamming the text as long as I hit the key or will the text only appear when the power is recharged and ready for activation?

Every time you hit the key, whether the power is recharged or not. There's no way to make the text appear only when the power goes off.

Also, be aware you will probably annoy teammates with this constant stream of text every time you use the power.

That bind will display the text each time you press the key. Once per press.

I will warn you though, you may get kicked from your team pretty quickly. What you're setting up will essentially spam the chatbox, which overruns everything anyone else may be saying.

Every time you press the key. Text has no recharge time - and there is no way to make it only say the text if the power is recharged.

Ok, yeah exactly I do not want to fill up the chat windows. Maybe I could try to add the text as an /afk text instead. Then it wouldn't be as annoying

If you tend to spam keys, I would define one keybind for the chat+power, and one that just activates the power. Typically, I keep such powers in my tray, where I can use the number key to fire it, and then map a Function key to the version with chat. (Although more recently I changed to using popmenus for that)

This is what I was about to suggest - I set some buffs up this way, as a way of giving interested parties some idea of what the buff is doing for them, without cluttering the chat box.

I used to use Local for this, but even without the distracting audio *doink* of a Team chat message, it did tend to clutter the box unnecessarily.

I also use an /afk alert for powers on my /Devices blaster that have long activation times (Trip Mine, Assault Drone), so people can tell I'm not Resting when I go into the kneeling pose.
