Deep thoughts by Net

so here i am in post-op waiting for my wife and I have some time to think about how "efficient" we have become in everything. Nurses and doctors rotate about like some sort of Dickensian factory. From one to the next, like clockwork. Surgery times are posted like a miliatant work schedule. In the quest for a faster better cheaper system, the patient and personability left the building.

And then I thought about the last few TFs Ive done..... and realized Ive been doing the same in game. Hami and ship raids aside, I cant remember the last TF I actually did, and by that I mean took my time and enjoyed the scenery.

dont get me wrong, I still very much enjoy the game solo because I set my own pace, but when I team, I shift into "efficiency " mode. And I have no idea why. The larger raids' pace is dictated by other factors so I dont feel compelled to fly so fast.

Maybe im just a little loopy from the smell of.....nothing (damn this place is sterile), or perhaps just really bored right now. But if poke abit the next time Im on your team, im just taking a moment to enjoy the game...... that or waiting for teh healorz to rez meh nao1

Part of the problem stems from a lack of some new content. When was the last time that veteran players stopped and said "wow!" I recall the first time we entered Oroborus and the Mender Silos Task Force. There were plenty of wow moments there. Of course the best content update was the inclusion of the Cimorora zone and the Imperious Task Force.

So we patiently wait for the new Going Rogue expansion and the upcoming graphic update. Until then, many of us are trying to create new challenges for ourselves such as soloing or duoing task forces, or speed runs, new raid strategies and even exploring PvP.

I'm really hoping there is plenty of new content with the upcoming expansion. I'm also hoping that some of the old content gets an update too. The old Task Forces such as Posi and Synapse look positively ancient compared to the some of Redside Strike Forces and could really use an overhaul.

I love this game and there is plenty to do. But there is no substitute to new content to keep things fresh.

Oh yeah, she's fine. It was just a removal of a cyst and bone spur off a knuckle. Quick 20min surgery. Took her alot longer to become lucid. She's at home sleeping on the couch right now.

While I agree with this, I do want to add in that, for many of us part of the thrill is at least partially inherent to the speed. That's not to say that all TFs have to be speedy and I myself do enjoying taking my time at least every once in awhile, but just that there is some fun to be had in moving at breakneck speeds.

as I am an IT guy that works on keeping a hospital working (well more than one going plus an ambulance service as well). Clean, effecent, and as little down time as possible. One of the big pushes we have been going through over the last year, is getting back to being personal with our clients. In your case your wife and you.

things to ask yourself as you ponder over the day.
Did you know a bit about your wifes doctor? How long has he been in medacine? The nurses??
were questions you had answered at a high level, or explaned to your understanding?

Last 2 weeks I picked up a major new project and did a switch from one out dated server to a new faster one. in the process I had to contact all of the users to make an IP change on there system. I found out the head person been working at my hostpital for over 25 years and a few other things. As I kept them on the phone and let them know what i was doing while I remotly reconfigured there system.

when done he commented on how fast and professional I was.

getting to know ppl you team with does not slow down a team, but does help keep it together when the unexpected happens.

I do love a good speed run! Something about completing a TF at break neck speeds that is a total blast!!! Did a 1 hour 13 minute Posi for Kat last weekend.

Yes, but there's Speed for Speed's Sake where once you're done, you're done, and then there's Hurry Up So We Can Do Another Speed Run so I get the best Merits/second.

The former can be fun most of the time. I love teams that don't necessarily care about the rewards, or about how much they're dying.

The latter gets old after about the first two mishes. There's little to no talking in team chat, there's The Way We Always Run This TF with no room for improv, and people tend to get stuck playing the same ATs because the leader isn't willing to roll with whomever wants to join.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

This...almost 4 years of looking at the same stuff makes you appreciate it less. We did the Mantis TF on our VEAT night and one of our team members had obviously never done it before. When we entered the last mish and they got a look at the Sky Raider base and all the enemies flying around it was a "Holy Crap" moment for them. Which reminded me of my first run on that TF and made me really want something new. I need a new wow moment.

I kinda feel the same way as you Net. In truth, I speed too much stuff when teamed, and should stop to smell the roses (so to speak) a little more often. Which I manage to do when I solo sometimes, but probably not enough.
