I found one actual word, and one instance of "UOTLAW." So cruel.

And yes, Equation, you can participate in this challenge even though you've won the Caption game.

Only an hour and a half before teh end...

Grr, too hard. All that time, and I only found 2 words. It's too hard to read.

Do you want to check your 'i' before 'e' rules and the exceptions and get back to us whether there really is 10 badges there?

Okay, I give up. I found seven pretty quickly, but then I have been over this thing completely at least three times with the full list of badges from City Info Tracker and the Paragon Wiki, including the AE badges that were removed, the Bug Hunter and Passport badges (which are extremely rare), and I even scoured it for something like "Jester" or "April Fool" to account for the unobtainable April Fool's Day prank badge from a few years ago.

I have an idea what the "trick" might be, but I don't want to post something with seven answers while everyone is still looking. If no one else gets it, I'll post it in an hour or so on the offhand chance that I'm on the right track.

In the meantime, I have a nasty cold, Belle has some more soup made for me, and boy does it smell good.

Misspellings that I've seen:
"UOTLAW" (outlaw)
"OOTLAW" (outlaw again)
"SRUGING" (surging)
"RNTERN" (intern)
"WARDEM" (warden)
"TRICER" (tracer)
"PNWZ" (pwnz)

Not telling which ones I've found in the puzzle, but I was able to find some of them spelled correctly. Heck, they might all be in there.

I've gotten 6 total, but I'm gonna have to call it quits from here. Good luck peeps!

Well, since people are posting the words I've found...

List of found words

ACE
OUTLAW
RAVER
ROMAN
SENTRY
TRACER
WARDEN

List of words found phonetically

CHEEF (Chief)
DIGGR (Digger)
NTERN (Intern)
STOIQ (Stoic)

Here's the legalese, on the offhand chance that this is the "trick" that Avatea has in mind:

If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.

Yes, I know that's eleven words. I figure that if that is indeed the "trick," an extra phonetic word might have crept in there by mistake, like a few did last week.

If that's not the trick and I just gave away a bunch of answers, apologies in advance, but I'm really feeling bad with this cold and I've been staring at it for six hours now, and I've got to go to bed.

Wait a minute, if we're talking about badges with transposed letters, then I've found three of them in all, also. Here is an updated grid with all of the found words, plus phonetically "found" words, plus words found with two letters transposed:

ACE

DIGGR (Digger)
NTERN (Intern)

PNWZ (Pwnz)
SRUGING (Surging)

I'll let Avatea sort out if this is good enough to pass muster. If not, you all have at it, and good luck. Soup. Bed.

Okay, I officialy give, not enough time to find 3 more, circle them, upload them and port.

Wait, seriously? 40% of the answers weren't spelled correctly? Wow.

Shoulda had a longer beta.

I think I figured out the trick, but I'm one word short. (and it's apparently past the deadline, but still)

Ocho, Ava, Niv, EM...

I demand humorous videos!

This has nothing to do with this thread.. but I was rewatching Avatea's NC Europe "I'm the ranger" thing again and thought.. "I wanna see them do that here!"

How bout it?

I'm afraid you may be right. "Bent word" puzzles are difficult even with a word list since it requires every neighbouring letter of any given letter in a word be checked. In a puzzle of this size it's no wonder no one got it in the time limit given the 700+ possible words.

Assuming my math is right:

If a word can only have one bend that's a 6 letter check at every "dead-end" letter that doesn't end a word, so 13 checks in a given word, and the odds play out that there's two startign letters from every word on the list of 700 words, 9,100 possible letter checks (130 if every word has a bend and you know the list of 10) to get all 10 if you happen to be unlucky and the last word you search is the last in the possible list (about 2.5 hours constant looking without break plus the time required to find an initial letter followed by a second possible letter not counting false starts, finding more than one 2 letter starting points).

If a word can bend more than once, it gets crazy. Averaging 5 letters per word that's about 29 possible letter checks to hit all five letters from finding the initial letter possibility, and over 20,300 possible letter checks for the list of possible words. Looking at one letter per second, you'd get through the whole list of possibles (at 700 possibles) in around 5 hours and 45 minutes of constant looking without break plus the time to find a 2 letter starting point and not counting false starts.

Since we don't know what words are in the puzzle, much less which of them will have a bend in them, yeah, I can see how this one took a while.
