Update: Mentor Project

The Mentor Project, albeit still in the initial phase of gathering experienced mentors, has now gone cross-server.

How many people are being mentored on Protector?

I have no idea how many are partnered to mentors, and have gotten no feedback yet since I've been pretty much out of commission for the last 2 months.

There are 10 officially registered mentors right now, most being on Protector.

Why do you ask?

Because it seemed a bit vague whether this program was actually running or still in the planning stage.

Welcome back, Stalemate! I thought things had seemed suspiciously quiet from your end.

I've been broadcasting the agreed upon message whenever i'm in a low level area, but most new players seem wary of a group who offers free help. Dunno why.

Looking foward to seeing if this is gonna pick up steam, now that our illustrious leader is back.

I may have grab one of the other PCs to get in. I need to keep promoting/recruiting neophytes and start poking mentors about how their own promoting is going.

Also, if they've started partnerships we could get some sort of status report going.

Friday night might work out for a tentative return since the kids will be out until 10PM or so. Less crying when I commandeer their PCs then.

NOTE TO MENTORS:

It may be another few weeks before I can get a replacement graphics card so my ingame presence will be rare. If it does happen, please don't fault me for wanting to play instead of manage the group.

I will be back in regular action as quickly as I can.

Meanwhile, please continue to promote the project in low level areas and announce any new partnerships you already have or will start. Feel free to be as creative as you want in this. My suggestions in the social group threads are only examples.

This Mentor Project cannot work unless there is some sort of visibility extended in the lower level ranges of players, and this has to be undertaken by mentors on a regular basis.

This is where most updates to the project will be noted, and server coordinators can then pass it on to their servers if they so wish.

It's come a long way in a short time. Congratulations.

It all started right here, on Protector, and is still steamrolling its way around, gathering speed. The Mentor Project now counts 115 registered volunteers, and there are more joining in every week.

Note: Protector has been passed by Justice, Virtue and Freedom as far as representation by volunteer mentors goes.

Joining in as a mentor now would be perfect timing for the next New Player Night on Protector! (stay tuned for upcoming announcements in the next few days)

Quit hanging out exclusively with the other old coots in those safe, predictable TF runs you're always milking, talking about the "glory days" when we had to defeat 10 000 Rikti Monkeys for the badge, or the Rularuu Invasion of '04, or when the city was completely cape-less.

OK, it's a safe routine, one that doesn't expose you to any real "change" brought on by interacting with new people. But it can also be like a new version of that gang of seniors I see having breakfast at Mcdonald's on the weekends, sucking on the same coffee for 2 hours: They all look and smell the same after a few months hanging together!

Get out there and find a new player to take on rounds with you, sharing your knowledge and skills, and experiencing the game again through his or her eyes!

Hey there! I recently got added to your spreadsheet of mentors, but I noticed an error: under the server column for my entry (row 117) you're showing the same value as you have for the "Preferred Role" column. My preferred server is Virtue, so you know what to put there.
