Use of a trial account for SK badges

I'm a bit of a perpetual soloist, so I came up with this scheme for getting SK badges. Register a trial account, create a toon, run a second instance of the client on my lappie (too slow to play the game for real, but quite able to stand around in Galaxy looking gormless), invite myself to team - kicking myself just before I enter each mission to keep the spawn size where I expect it to be, but spending all my time teamed up with this trial toon to get time on the SK badges.

I can't _see_ anything in the User Agreement prohibiting this wheeze. Anyone care to comment?

It wouldn't be against the user agreement. It *would* take a very very long time if you're only doing the team up thing between missions.

To get it done quicker, leave both toons in a mission or base while SK'ed when you are not playing (during the day, over night ect..) Being in the mission or base won't auto kick you from the game after inactivity.

I have had characters logged in for days before.

Can trial accounts go into bases?

Yeah, I guess not since they can not get in to groups.

Still, any mission will work. Just hang out inside. Or, if you want to show off in the world get into an AE mission. There is no auto-log out in AE mode. Then you can party in front of Atlas earnin' ur badgez.

*Edit: AE mode acts like being in a task force. So you don't have to be in the AE mission it self. Just have one as your mission, and go poke Mrs Liberty for hours and hours.

Yes, trial members can get into SG bases, provided the base allows teammates to enter, since they can't join supergroups.

What Agge said.

Trial accounts may not be able to actually join the SG but, as a teammate, they can enter their teamleader's base... as long as the base permissions are set as such.

According to hearsay, you stop getting progress on the mentoring badges if you are inactive for a certain period of time so AFK'ing won't work. I can't attest to this personally, but I have heard it from multiple people. Can't hurt to try, and find out for sure.

I had my wife SK'd to me overnight in a mission while I slept and got the badges.

Badging in a PvP zone?

If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

Trial accounts can start their own one-member supergroups (at least I could back then in May 2009). They can't join other SGs, and I think they can't invite others to their own SGs either.

I think this was the case before.. when your mentor was out of range, but now with the new SSK thing, you can even be AFK in another zone and you still earn the badge... at least that's my experience.

Aha. But if you're running with any difficulty setting above "1 hero-equivalent", you can reduce that setting by 1 while you are SKing your trial account buddy. Even if you're not (and frankly, you probably are, because you're only going to bother with this when you're a highbie looking to clear up the last few badges), you could set difficulty to -1 to restore something like the previous challenge level. So I don't see that as a serious problem.
