Bad Craziness = Good for CoH?
... Uh... yeah. He handed Champions Online over to Bill Roper a year and a half ago so he could concentrate on Star Trek Online.

The STO boards at MMORPG have a lot of the same angst. I won't be playing it but somehow will not be surprised when the nerf-bat hits the game before coming out of beta, like what happened with CO. Tigers and changing their stripes you know.

Except Jack Emmert hasn't had much to do with Champions Online since November 2008, when he handed off the reigns to Bill Roper, for better or worse.

If you really believe that Jack Emmert has nothing to do with CO, and hasn't been involved since Bill Roper was hired, I've got a large amount of ocean front property in Montana to sell you.

I didn't say that Jack Emmert has had nothing to do with Champions Online since he handed the reigns over to Bill Roper. I said that he hasn't had much to do with it. There is a difference. I'm sure that he's had some influence and say in it, but, in the end, it's Bill Roper's baby now. Jack Emmert has as much to do with Champions Online at the moment as he had to do with City of Heroes from Issues 8 through 12, (which, incidentally, were some of the best issues City of Heroes has had yet, imo). Let's give credit where credit is due. People like to give Matt Miller kudos, and rightfully, for the direction City of Heroes took after Issue 8. Why, then, do people insist on blaming Jack Emmert for the direction Champions Online took after Bill Roper took over?
Really, y'all need to stop using Jack Emmert as some sort of boogeyman.

I was over at a friend's house earlier today and he happened to have STO going, so he showed me a few mishes. It looked fine to me, though he has his little nitpicks as well. Not sure I'd play it myself, but it seems like it would be worth a try at least, especially in a month or two once they start working out some bugs.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
I wouldn't say Bad Craziness = Good for CoH mainly because if people find a game they like they will stick with it till the end, much like I did with PSO till Sega shut the door down on the dreamcast and then XBox (Bastards!). All in all though, like most of you who are dedicated to this game or others, if those shut those other games down and this one is still kicking they come back here, hey awesome.
Actually, I will speak just a "little" on CO's behalf on a few good points though I am NOT trying to get people to go try it and sure as heck not telling people to leave CoH, trust me, DON'T. Though like some, I do hope GR does bring a little more life here, I'd like to see it myself.
I've been running a muck in CO for about three weeks now basically taking a breather from CoH to prevent burn out again, I even went made Darzer over there for the sheer fact of beating people with a Semi-truck and anything else I could lift, AND that is fun and to me, that makes Super Strength fun which I find lacking here unfortunately (the whole if you have the strength to lift it you can vs...a piece of rock and JUST a piece of rock...yay *yawn*), but oh well. (One day though I want to be to do a few things here in CoHland that I've gotten to do over in CO, i.e: picking up a forklift or whatever else is around in mission and hitting a group of enemies with it.)
I find the costume creator a breath simply because even though it lacks many of the design's CoH has like the skins we use on tights and such and the hair styles and several of the eye pieces, it does have a better way of customizing you're look though which I find CoH should look into upgrading to in all honesty.
The whole "Power of Choice" is actually kinda bleh though since most people there shifted more to all be tank mages which, compared to CoH, you can't really define much in the way of a "role" there and when you team there's no real way of telling what your getting when making a team, though I do think if CoH tried that, they should keep the powers of choice just to AT field only. I guess in some small way thats okay but not on all things.
I don't really find it as much of a "team" game and more of the solo'est game which I would suggest for people who are anti social, don't want to put up with people and only team out of need to complete something. The defense mechanics of the game leave a bit to really be desired as they don't seem to really work like they should, or at least it feels that way to me while I've played and watched or tried to. I will say unlike CoH, not even grinding methods, you can pull off a maxed lvl 40 character quicker, which unlike here, kinda numb's you a bit when you're playing, or so it feels that way.
I didn't buy the life time but I will mention a few things I have seen over there. I've seen a lot of people in main chat commenting various comparisons between CO and CoX and most of it is generally constructive which is surprising. Most people who did buy a life time don't regret it and are willling to stick it out simply because they see the game as just starting so I don't think most of them will jump ship during a bad spot.
YMMV---IMO
