How to use a controller in PvP?

I've gotten a bit more PvP experience now (still w/out IO's though); so now I finally have some questions that are probably more answerable now....
I would like to be more of a damage controller, as an Ice/Cold I have the 2 single target attacks and the 2 important debuffs. Within the AT power sets, which powers would be most effective for the style I'm looking for?
As far as power pools go SS/SJ/Fitness seem to be the standard and most effective. I have heard that Fly is not too bad for a troller (would like some info as to why I should use or avoid it) and I have no idea what the Epic or 4th pool should be. As far as DMG goes it looks like /Earth is the best epic since it has 2 higher dmg powers, an armor power, and the +HP power, but... the /Ice has hibernate which appears to be a useful power. With the 4th power pool set I'm not sure if Stealth or Leadership would be the most effective. Stealth gets extra slotting for - KB, while Leadership gets the +perception.
So this is where I am stuck at, I would like to hear from more experienced players as to what I should really be looking for. If a damage controller build is really impossible for Ice/Cold I would not mind being a support character, I just don't want to be a pure base buffer, I would like to at least have some combat ability in zone or arena.

For duels/zones you could get away with:

Pro's
Earth Mastery has 2 great damaging powers
+hp in earth's embrace can cover holes in low hp builds
Availability of Phase Power before 41+
Concealment has a lot of potential for KB resist and +rech slotting
Con's
No Perception (Can't hit what you cant see)
No +tohit (Can't hit what you can eventually see)
EDIT: You could potentially put a Kismet +6% ToHit in a defensive toggle.
Depending on quality of build Earth Mastery attacks are hard on end
As far as fly goes...
IMO it can save you in zones when there is no -fly around. Unfortunately, it seems like everyone, including zone mobs, has some sort of -fly. I would not consider it a viable travel power for anyone wanting to be serious about PvP.

Mmmk. I kind of situated a build... It is probably really expensive but some of the numbers look decent except maybe the endurance recovery. But here's kind of what I have going...
This has a big bonus to Accuracy, but has a lower +HP and end recovery than the build could have. The KB resist isn't too bad I don't think. Let me know what in this set is good and what I should seriously change out. I will probably keep reposting builds to try and get it right, but I will delete each one that I create so it doesn't cause a huge clutter in the thread. So anyway please tell me how I can improve this build, whether it's using cheaper sets that work better for the money or, anything really.

I have been searching the PvP forums for any kind of controller info and it's been very difficult. It looks like PvP is primarily geared for whoever has the highest burst damage and with a controller you don't quite get the same kind of dmg available to the other classes. So as the title says... how do you use a controller in PvP? I really want to try one and it would be helpful to get info on how to use it in each kind of PvP situation (zone, arena, team, and tactics vs each class). If there are any kinds of guides out there explaining this please give me a link or something.

For example a stone/anything, you drop sands and quakes .. it help's when the stalkers come for yummy troller meat ... but damage can be an issue so its nice to have friends or team hanging with you for the damage output.
I got an emp i fly around healing people n tossing buffs n she got gr8 hold .. if you dont mind being support trollers are alot fun. and some do ok damage it all depends on what you consider viable and fun for pvp
Dont expect to go head to toe with every AT
Try a defender they have a little more durabilty i think

I don't have time to do a build for you but this is a cheap but decent build I just did for my grav/cold. Atleast looking at it will give you an idea on how to do your powers. For example look at crush, my immobilize. 3 devestations and 3 trap of the hunters. The reason is that the set bonuses for each is what gives you HP. So you would want to slot your immobilize like that. That is what you are looking for in a pvp build. First priority is HP. Second priority is KB protection. Third would be recharge. Then if you have any room to play in your build you want to get some +endurance recovery because trollers are end hungry...especially colds. Then after that you could work on +damage etc.
By no means is this the best build in the world but it is fairly cheap and works. It has 1502 HP which is enough to get by. 34 points of KB protection and +51 pts of recharge. All just enough to get by while keeping it cheap and playable. Personally eventhough I usually have the money to do really expensive builds I don't see the point when moderately priced builds typically are just as good.
